Navy For Moms

Any and all moms with children leaving for GL on the 21st. let's keep in touch through out the 8 plus...long ...long...weeks. My baby girl is starting her Navy journey and like most of you I am having a hard time with letting go. This is a hard transition for all of us. She is filled with excitement and anticipation and I am happy for her. Join in on the discussion and tell me about your child. We can share information and search for answers together as well as giving each other support.

Dear Angela,
How are you doing? Big day coming up, you and your daughter will be fine.
You'll get a phone call from her, the next day after she leaves.

Please stay inn touch with other Navy moms. We will all help you through this.
Take care,
Barbara

Thank you for your comment. V is in this state of mixed emotion right now..All along I have been the one falling apart, and she has been strong and excited. I knew that the closer she actually got to the date it would start really hitting her, and it has. I am torn between telling her it will be ok..and wondering if you really wants us to say..please stay. She met some guys the other night who are in the Navy who were telling her..."why?", you shouldn't go...etc..All along I have wanted to make sure she was sure and doing it for the right reasons...ie...not running away from anything..I just want her to be safe and happy ...and to be a part of her new life. But, six years is a long time and again I want her to leave feeling ok about everything. She is very tough...had to be with 5 brothers..but that is the exterior..inside she is sweet and vulnerable. I have said all I'm going to say..to her..meaning...I told her it was ok to change her mind...but also told her it was natural to have these feelings when faced with leaving home. I reminded her we love her and will be here for her no matter what. I know it will be harder on her emtionally than she ever expected, but I know just like me she will adjust. For now, I am trying not to burden her with my own grief as I don't want her to feel responsible for me. Pray for us as we face this time of change and seperation.
