Navy For Moms

Hello everybody! Well my daughter is almost finished with A school in Pensacola and today she received her orders of where she is goin after she graduates school. They told her she will be goin to San Diego and the ship she will be on is the USS Ronald Reagan. Does anybody else have a son/daughter thats over there in San Diego? Maybe yall can fill me in on a little info about San Diego. She has a husband too who is also very curious about life over there and how things will work. Thanks

Hello, I'm in san diego and my son is stationed at Coronado. San Diego is a navy town, with a few bases around. The weather right now is in the 60's with sunny skies. Don't know exactly how things will work for her, how long will she be here? If I can try and answer any other questions just ask and I will see what I can do.
Congrats.

I have been awol for awhile. I check into the website but haven't taken the time to comment. I apprecaite your offer and may take you up on it. Right now she is doing great. Working and staying busy. Jordan got leave for a week to S.D. from his training so they are managing and her parents are coming to visit in a couple weeks. Thanks...I just read a posting that helped me remember why I became a part of this wonderful group of women and I promise I won't stay away so long.!

Hello, my son is stationed in San Diego, he loves it there. He is still in C-school so isn't fleet yet. But tells me there is plenty to do, day or night. The weather is great. He calls it the perfect place to be. He does complain about the traffic. But you'll get that anywhere. I wish your daughter the best. And tell your husband not to worry about his daughter becomming a CA girl.

My son arrived in CA again last week. He transferred from Pensacola. He didn't have to report to duty until this past Tuesday, so, him and another Navy buddy, enjoyed some sites of CA. They went to LA, Santa Monica, climbed a mountain and, of, course, went shopping. My son loves it there, and has told me, when he gets out, that's probably where he'll live. I live in Illinois, so that would be tough for me. My son told me he needed to buy a hoodie because the weather was a bit chilly right now. He also said when he jogged up the mountain, he had a a bit of a tough time since the elevations are different, but, still felt invigorated. He's glad to be back in San Diego and I'm sure your daughter will love it. My son is in Air Search & Rescue and will earn his wings in about 6 months. He said things are different in CA than in IL, and I'm sure that is true!! I hope everything works out well for your daughter. I wish her the best!!

For a young couple just starting out, it is better to live in base housing. Than they know the rent is paid and they will have a place to live. I have seen, many, many times where a yong couple move out in town and one of the spouses blow the rent money than they get in debt up to their ears.

Just my two cents having been in for over 12 years...

Hi Linda,
Welcome to N4M, my son base now in SD, and he is on deployment right now on USS John Stennis but will be coming home soon, probably your daughter will depart a little before he head home.
SD is a beautiful place, has everything, beautiful base also. Housing is pretty pricy, they better off leave in base housing. I know it's hard when they go away, my son frist 3 years based in Guam, in between his first deployment was Kuwait, now got transferred back to SD.
