My son left for BC on 4/11/18 and I’m so worried. I think I’ve read every blog and watched a million videos about boot camp. They have helped a little bit because now I have somewhat of an idea of his day. It’s nice to know that there is a forum where we can get answers to our questions and comfort from others who know what we are feeling. I truly thank you all!

my son left on 4/10 so right there with you. I jump when the phone rings. I have read and watched so much, waiting for his box then letter. I still think, no news=good news.

Hi Micheyh, Welcome to Navy Moms, how can I help you to ease your mind. this BC part of it is pretty nerve wrecking and worrisome I cant deny that. right now he is working extra hard to learn the ropes and to pass his Run and pyhsical part of it. I can say that there really are no words, you have to stay positive within your self. Here at the Navy they Say "No News is Good News" and with that they use to tell me as long as you dont receive a call early on, then know things will be ok. that is what I had to go on. Still it doesnt make it any easier. when the line of communication is cut off it does make it really hard, but this is a test for our Loved One also. The reason being is they want to see who is going to break down, who will get depressed. you see it is a way of seeing who is strong, because if anything during their Journey's there may come a time where communication will be silent. (deployment) and they have to stay strong. so it is a lesson for us as Mother's and for them becoming a Sailor. I hope it makes sense, maybe right now it may not because it didnt for me but as you continue to grow and learn sooner or later it will. Once the communication is open and you receive your first call or letter all the tension and worry will come to rest. Because then you will know your Loved One is ok. and after that the weeks will fly by, and sooner than you know it you will be attending PIR. I hope all this makes sense. beleive me I was a crying mess for many weeks, I waited to join this site thinking they would think I was crazy, but actually all of the Mothers were feeling the way I was, how you are feeling, so it is pretty natural and it is ok to cry. I wanted to know if my Son was ok, is he rested, was he eating. everything was an ok except for the rested part, they are very tired and you may hear that in their voice when you get your call. some first calls can be hard reason is because they miss you as much as you them, and tired and some find it very hard and not what they expected it to be.. I would just listen and let them vent, and after pray over the phone with them, My Son use to tell me he really needed that and it helped him to get by,some need to know that we are their strength and they can do anything with determination. I hope this eases you a bit, but please do come to Boot Camp Moms you will find many that are feeling the same, come share that is one thing we do on BCM is share our experiences, thougths, concerns and it is a chance to meet many Great Ladies. My prayers will be with you to ease your anxiety.

John 14:27  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”

Thank you so much for your kind words, they were truly needed right now. I’ve been a crying mess since the week before he left. We raised them to be strong courageous and independent but worry once they show us that they have been paying attention to the lessons taught. I know that all I can do is pray and pray some more, he will be fine!

You are welcome, if you ever need to talk I'm here. Your Loved One will be fine and so will you. We are here for you.
