Navy For Moms

My daughter is joined the Navy. She just took her Asveb test and signed up for an extra year. She will be going for Pharmacy. Her recruiter was supose to come by about two weeks ago to explain the position job she would have and all the paper work. He has canceled in the past two weeks and I am getting really upset. Before she took her test he would ave done flips. Now that the papers are signed he won't even the family the right time of day. I really didn't expect this from him. She is supose to start boot camp july 7th. But I'm really not shore??? I don't even know where she will be going or even what school she will be attending. My question is do I have the right to ask him, I was very proud when my daughter Stacey ask me to call and find out the information about the navy. This is something she decided to do on her own. I'm just worried about all of this. I want to support my daughter in everywhich way I can but without the proper information I feel lost and left out. As a matter of fact she is the one who told me about this web site. I'm not even sure I am even using this website properly.

Thank you Nicole
My husband will be dropping her off at the recruiting center for her 1st once a month meeting. I will be meeting them there and I will be talking to him face to face and he needs to answer all my questions. Thank you for letting me know about the Great Lakes IL. Like I responed to the other reply the only Great Lakes I knew about was ohio. This recruiter was really great at first but after Stacey took her test and physical and signed the rest of the papers he never got back in touch hes made 2 appointment times and cancelled on that day.
...

I called my sons recruiter a few times & asked questions & my son is 18. His was recruiter was always very nice & answered my questions. He retired the day my son left for boot camp & they guy there now is not so great.
Thank you for the reply
HI Michele, welcome and please feel free to ask as many questions as you have. This is a wonderful resource and we even have a Head Recruiter in Charge (his name is Tim Talbott and I am sure he can give you lots of advise and answer questions. Unfortunately, my son also had a LOUSY recruiter who dropped the ball. Ask to speak to the Head Recruiter in Charge of the office your daughter is assigned to. Explain to him/her your concerns and see how forthcoming they are. Fortunately for us, the HRIC stepped up to the plate and did all the last minute running around. I am assuming she is in DEP (delayed entry program)? Good luck and again if there's anything we can do, please do not hesitate to ask. That's what this wonderful site is for.

Best Regards,
Jacque
Yes my daughter told me about this and I am very happy she did. Yes she is in DEP as of right now. Her recruiter came by Monday night and discussed everything with me. I feel a little more at ease. Thank you
Michelle...it appears that your daughter will go to the Navy Bootcamp at Great Lakes based on your description. Upon successful completion of bootcamp, it also appears that she could then enter the Hospital Corpsmen 'A' School training (approximately three months), which is also located at Great Lakes, IL. Anyone being considered for a specialty like Pharmacy must first complete the Hospital Corpsmen training. I might be mistaken, but I find it hard to believe that your daughter would have been guaranteed a placement into the Pharmacy program before entering the Navy. This doesn't mean that your daughter can't enter the Pharmacy program, but she would still have to successfully pass bootcamp and Hospital Corpsmen training before entering a specialty school like Pharmacy.

Certainly hope your recruiter provides you with additional information.
After Bootcamp she will enter the "A" school. No they didn't promis her a placement there is nothing available at this time. She will be in adminstrative until a spot opens up and then she can transfer. As of now she will be attending school in Meridian Ms after bootcamp I think. Yes she will be in a Corpsmen program from what I have been told. Thank you for your reply
Has your daughter called the recruiter to get the information herself yet? If no maybe the two of you can take a trip down there and find out. But, she shoud have gotten a folder of some sorts, or maybe it is too soon.
yes as a matter of fact after she came back from her physical they are supose to contact you in 72 hours which he has and canceled both times but he came by monday and we discussed every thing i need too. Thank you for your reply
Hang in there dear. If she does not leave until July -there is plenty of time sto get your questions answered, as long as you stay vigilant.
Several times, I was told the Recruiters thought my son had probably answered my questions. I say stay tightly involved. If you do, they will know you are a force to be reckoned with. Let them know you intend to stay on top of things. You are after all her main protectors. If you are unresloved and stay that way -you will all bne miserable. Ask as many ? here as you need to. We have so many gufts here in the way of experince and concern that we are all very lucky to be a part of this group. Stay with us in any and all ways you need, as as often as you need.
We are proud of your daughter!
