It is so hard not knowing what he is doing, how he is doing, everything is such a secret.

Hi Shirley,
It is hard not hearing from our Sons and Daughters. I last spoke to my son 10 days ago. He is somewhere in the Middle East, last stop was Bahrain. I have emailed him hoping that he a least gets to read them and knows that we are thinking about him and keeping him in our prayers. I hope you hear from him soon.
Shirley, I know what you are going through. My son, Mikey is a FMF corpsman in Afghanistan. Just heard from my son's best friend that Mikey called him this past Sunday morning at 2:30 our time and was able to talk for about 2-3 minutes. This is the first time he has called since Oct. 5th. I am relieved he is ok. But this not knowing what is going on drives me crazy too. Where he is at is in an "undisclosed" location , he has no internet access at all. They depend on, I believe, is the unit's satelllite phone. I do not know when the next time he is going to call is going to be and my craziness will set in again. We just have to hang in there and hope, pray, and stay positive. I know for a fact that this is easier said than done but what else can we do. I will keep you and your son in my thoughts and prayers. He will call. Anytime you want to talk about this or anything else , I'm here for you. You take care.
I feel the same my son is overseas and I wish I knew where he was and how things were. He is verry careful about the info he releases when he emails me so I know verry little about the danger or pleasure he is experiencing.
That is really hard. I have had to let go a lot!!!!!! It is quite the insecure feeling not knowing. I can't help though but realize what a high calling this is. I fly my flag and pray and know that it is because of the sacrifices of our sons and daughters that give us our freedom. I see the price it costs now from a different point of view. The not knowing and the toll that it takes on military families. I am so much more appreciative. My daughter is a navy wife and I see even through her eyes as she lives with the "secrets" and the "not knowing" how much of a sacrifice it is in her life, and yet her and thousands of Navy wives across the country continue to make the sacrifice willingly. I am amazed at the courage and the bravery of these young men and women. Hang in their Shirley! You are in good company for you blogged about the hardest thing about being a Navy mom.
