We are on hold right now...he has to loose some weight (20 lbs) before he can join so we are working on this. Haven't met with recruiter yet. He is still meeting weekly but until the weight is down some, they feel it is premature. Dumb me didn't realize you had to loose the weight before they would let you join...I thought they would help him get it off once he did join.

Our experience with the recruiter was very positive. Not eveyones has been. My son realized that he had a great recruiter when he got to boot camp and listened to the stuff others were saying they experienced. I agree with what others have said and my sons recruiter came to our home. He was there over an hour talking with us. I had written down lots of questions and I read them off to him one by one and wrote his answers down. He said in the 14 years he had been doing recruiting that I had asked question he had never been asked before. The more informed you are the better and easier I think it is. I had kept in contact with his recruiter until he retired at the 1st of the year. I still talk with the other recruiter at the recruiting station. Truly if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. I told the recruiter to be upfront and honest with me. That's how I deal with stuff even if it is tough to hear. He was and so far all is well with my Navy son who has been in for a almost a year. Best Wishes!

I never went with my daughter to the recruiter's office. She would go and call me from their to ask me questions. I was in Calif. and she was in Texas. It all worked out. She's been in since Oct. 07 and is now on a ship out on West Pac. Join the Navy, see the World!!!
