For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

PIR Aug 25
Our son will graduate Aug 25 and is expected to go to GM A school.
I know there is a check in for school that same day.
I understand we will pick him back up after that and can spend Liberty with him
Do they return to base that same Friday night after PIR?
Are they allowed liberty on that next day (Sat) after PIR?
Are they allowed liberty Sunday after PIR?
asking so I can book flights and hotel accordingly.

Your Sailor will have liberty on Friday, after moving over to the TSC side, until approx 10pm. He will also have liberty from approx 6am to 10pm on Sat and Sunday. Your Sailor must return to base each night.
Sailors are briefed on time to be back and additional rules that apply for the weekend. Whatever time your Sailor is to be back to base each night plan on returning him back approx 45 minutes to an hour early. "In the Navy, on time is late."

Thank you for that information. Our son also has PIR & will be in A school in Great Lakes. I'm such the planner and the limited information had me a bit unnerved.

yes, it gets so confusing with all this info! Back when I graduated bootcamp...1987, my parents got relatively nothing!
we will all be ok! if not worse for wear on our wallets! LOL
and the kids will be just fine!

Now for more questions. He has a box of stuff he wants us to bring to him. Like his fishing pole, a blanket, odds & ends. Is he permitted to have items from home at that time?
Also, can he have his cell phone at the beginning of A school?

Ladybug71, yes, he can have his cell phone once he moves across the street. He most likely will not have time or room for the fishing pole. Yes, he can have the blanket. Check in the GL groups to see what is permitted.

Got my first letter today. I was so happy to hear from him, he sounds a bit down but staying postive hope everything goes ok for him.
