Navy For Moms

11 Dec — There is no grad.

18 Dec — 025 – 028 and 904 & 905. Only six divisions

Christmas Week – There is no grad.

30 Dec — Div 029, approx 13 divisions total. This is the only group who will be eligible for the Adopt-a-Sailor program on Christmas. Recruits will send home forms with the details, but if they think their folks cannot make it, they probably won't send a form. It's entirely up to them.

Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor is the 04 Dec group only. Their forms were sent out last week.

They had Christmas eve grads last year?

Reply to This

yes they did, I had watch that day at the USO on base. They are not doing that this year.

What about ship 09 Div 32?

Generally the divisions are numbered sequentially and graduate in order. If 13 divisions graduate on Dec. 30, and Div 029 + 12 other divisions has PIR on Dec 30, it's a good bet 032 will grad on Dec. 30.

With the crazy holiday travel.....do you have any suggestions or recommendations on traveling to GL for PIR? I also hear there's construction around the facility? What time should we get there for PIR? I know the gates open at 6am? But I want to make sure we get there in time to avoid long lines, etc..... I'm thinking we should get there at 5am maybe earlier? We're staying in a hotel only a couple of miles from the facility and they do have shuttle service. What do you recommend with all the construction and stuff?

Any helpful advice you provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all you do

FYI, you will be in a line no matter when you get here. I come to work at 0600 and there is a line to get on the base. I use the back roads to stay away from the traffic, think most of the staff up here does (LOL)

All the information will be in the packet you get as to what time you need to be there.

Personnel if I could take a shuttle to work ever day I would as the roads suck in the winter time. There are more fender benders on PIR days also. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you! Our hotel does provide shuttle service, so we'll utilize it. Thanks again.

We got in line just after 6 a.m. for PIR - we were only maybe the 9th or 10th car in the line. GREAT, right? Well, we had to park the furthest from the checkin, right next to the chapel. Oh, I forgot to mention it was the middle of January and it was about 20 below zero. The line of cars behind us was quite long, and there were *only* 7 or 8 divisions graduating that day.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being one of the first to get there - but remember that the ceremony doesn't start until 9:00.

If you're taking a shuttle, you will get dropped of at the gate and have to walk - but it's not very far.

I'm confused (but this is my first day here...) my son leaves this week. By my math, which is based on assumptions, he should be graduating the end of Dec. or the beginning of Jan. Is this the Dec. 30th date I see above? Maybe I am missing a break in there for Christmas or something. Like I said, I am very new here and need help. :)
Anyone have any info for me? Thanks! Lisa Z.

Izinchini, your best bet is to wait for your letter once your son leaves for BC. Once he's assigned a ship and div it will be much easier to determine his PIR date (graduation). There's so much speculation, it'll drive you nuts! His recruiter will have his div and ship info a couple of days after he arrives at BC (boot camp). I hope this helps some.

Christine,
Just curious as to when your son (or daughter) left for BC? I am trying to calculate based on when others left. I know I need to wait for the form letter, but I am really impatient! My son just left on 11/4. I have called his recruiter but have not received a call back yet.
