Navy For Moms

I just got the form letter in the mail and my daughter's graduation is to be November 25. I was wondering if anyone else had someone graduating on this day?

Hey Ladies,
How is everyone this morning? I just found this page thanks to NAVY MOM Mary, my heartfelt gratitude! My son's PIR is 11/25/2009. He is Ship 4 Div 007.
I just read of a meet and greet at the Ramada Inn, on the evening of the 24th, located at 200 N Green Bay Rd. Waukegan, IL 60085 (for anyone doing a mapquest, from any location other than the Ramada), however I could not find a time for this event. My older son and I arrive in Chicago at 4:00 PM, by the time we collect baggage, and our rental, it will put us right in the middle of rush hour traffic, I have been told, to figure about 2 hours to our hotel which by the way is the Ramada.
I am totally green here what is a Grab and Go? and how do I find out if my child is part of them? I have not heard from my son since October 1st, is this normal, my older son was ARMY and I heard from him quite often while in boot camp and TEC School
Thanks for any info or help!
Elizabeth

A grad and go (grad, not grab) gets on a plane pretty much right away after PIR, perhaps a few hours later. This is usual for sailors who are training at bases other than Great Lakes, but not set in stone. If his A school is at Glakes, it is still possible to be a grad and go and still get liberty after they check into the NTC side of the base. Their rate (job) determines where they will go to A school. They know a few weeks beforehand.

The Army is just different, don't try to compare the two at all, you'll just go crazy. No to few calls is very common.

Hey Karen,
My son's graduation date is also November 25th,2009. He is part of Ship 4 Div 007. What ship and Div is your daughter? Are we even allowed to ask these question??????LOL I am so totally new to this and trying to navigate my way around these sites has not been an easy task. Thank god for NAVY MOM Mary, she has been a tremendous help for me, sending me in the right direction and helping me find areas that I had no clue where they were or how to get to them.
Are you attending your daughter's grad? I just learned of a meet and greet on the 24th at the Ramada located at 200 N Green Bay Road, Waukegan, IL 60085 (just in case you are doing a map quest). I do not however have a time for this event.
Due to the time we arrive in Chicago, and given the fact that it will put us in rush hour traffic, I am hoping it will be around 7 PM.

Hi Elizabeth...Sorry just now getting back on my computer. The meet and greet at Ramada is from 6-8 p.m. in the lounge area. Unfortunately I won't be there. My daughter pulled the muscle from her ankle up to her calf on both legs so she has been in rehab for 2 weeks this coming Thursday. She is hoping to go back into another division very soon. She was in Ship 07 Division 012. She is going to A school in GL for FC. Needless to say we are in limbo as far as a graduation date right now. Hopefully the ankles will hold when she starts running again.

You can ask the Ship and Division and even the first name, just don't use their last name. There are a lot of great people who have loved ones graduating 11/25. There is a group for this PIR 11/25. That is a great one to join. You will like all of the ladies on there.

Where is your son going to A school? I bet he is excited and I know you are...Keep in touch....Karen
