For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

We attended our son's official swearing in just a couple of hours before he left for boot camp. This was done at the MEPS station (from where he left). We got some really great pictures and video of this important ceremony.

My son signed a bunch of papers and has an ID card...he doesn't go to boot camp till next June.

If there is ANYTHING wrong now or in the past medically, he MUST talk to the recruiter. It may be something he can get a waiver for. No matter what a recruiter tells him, do NOT let him lie about anything on his paperwork. Sometimes an overzealous recruiter may tell a potential recruit to NOT disclose something, then it's on the recruit not the recruiter. Lie about nothing, omit nothing. My son was injured during bootcamp (knee) and when he went to the Care Unit, initially they wanted to say it was pre-existing BUT with bone scans and MRI, they found it to be a new injury. He was able to stay, complete training and is now in A school.

Unfortunately i have nothing to say..He lives with his GF who is extremely controlling and has caused him to totally abandon my husband and i...He was shot when he was 14 in the neck and they could not remove the bullet as it is right next to the carotid artery..I was told by the surgeon he should not get MRIs or go through metal detectors and he should probably not go into the military as boot may not be good for him...I gave him the docs report but either they didn't care or he didn't give it to them. Plus he is blind in one eye, he has a heart murmur and IBS with bleeding. Maybe boot isn't that hard in the Navy so they passed him..

If your son has a heart murmur it should have been detected when he had his medical eval at MEPS. In addition, if he didn't tell them he has IBS, sooner or later they'll find out about that. As for being blind in one eye, not sure how they missed that on an eye exam. If he does happen to enlist without divulging his medical conditions, he won't make it through boot camp & he could possibly be charged with a fraudulent enlistment.
