Navy For Moms

We've heard that although it is not encouraged, they will let a spouse live off-base in the area of the "A" school. We are from Michigan and I will be going to Colorado to stay with family until he is settled into "A" school in San Diego. What's the procedure for as to when he will be able to get off base? Will he be able to live with me and our daughter because we are married? If so, is it after a period of time? Can anyone give me some helpful information on this?

I guess I was equally unclear. If he isn't eligible for barracks due to getting BAH for a local address, barracks are totally unavailable. There is no option to pay for barracks. They don't have a system set up for it. (this may have changed since my time in, but I doubt it).

Many shore commands have a small cot room for watch-standers who live off-base to sleep on their watch days. My A-school did this, because our school was on the other side of the base from our barracks. They didn't want us walking around in the dark, and they didn't want to have to drive us the 2 miles every watch change.
