The NAM is the big one of all those awards.  BZ!

I'm so glad I found this page!!  My son just told me he was up for SOQ.  Neither of us knows what it is.  His chief told him to fill out his brag sheet.  He's like what for?  He has no clue!  He's been busting his butt in his division and the current one he's "temping" in unti they get deployed.  He's always been about hard work and helping out.  Nice to see someone's noticing.  Even if he doesn't get it, I'm really proud of him.  Pretty cool!

My son is currently on his first deployment on a carrier, and since his deployment began in August of last year, he has received the Sailor of the Month (department) then Sailor of the Week (ship wide).  Since he is on a carrier, I was very happy with the SOW considering there are well over 5000 sailors on board at full capacity.  :)  I was sent a very nice letter from the Captain for SOW and a wonderful picture of when he was given the ship's coin from the Captain.  He has also received a couple of letters of Appreciation and last week told me that he received a Letter of Commendation from the Admiral.  Today he emailed me and told me he was selected for the Blue Jacket of the Quarter for his department and that means he is in the running for BJOQ ship wide.  He has had his board for this and is waiting to hear if he was chosen.  Does anyone know how long that usually takes?

Can anyone tell me if the SOQ ceremony is something a parent can attend as a surprise?
