Son driving to new command, does he have to use his leave time in his travel time?

my son will be driving from Ohio to his new command in Lemoore CA.
he only has 12 days leave. does he have to use part of his leave for the travel time for him to drive 3-4 days to CA? or does he get 4 days after his 12days leave???

just wondering, thanks Karen

He will be allotted travel time, says right on his orders how many days.

Well, because he didn't declare that he was driving to his command when the class started, they only have him down for 1 day travel. but his recruiters told him to go ahead and take his leave and then leave for Cali. he can turn in his receipts for gas, food and lodging when he gets there and get reimbursed.

So he is leaving this coming Sunday for his 2500 mile trip

Just tell him to make sure he is there on that "Report No Later Than Day". Sounds like hes going to the aviation community. F/A-18 squadrons are awesome.

thanks, he is with the VFA-125 in Lemoore right now. he ended up only getting charged with 4 days leave because they deducted the 7 days he could have used to drive from the number of days he was gone....and he will get reimbursed for his gas, hotel and food when he gets to his final command in El Centro in NOV.

He is loving life working on the jets...
