My son left 12-15 for great lakes and i havent heard a thing yet..not even the i am here call!!!!
do you think he is ok? what should i do next i am worried about him????

Hi ladies, everything will be just fine. Marybeth, you said you just recvd 1st real letter, are you at the "STALK the MAILMAN stage" lol. If not you will be and so will you newbee's. Kelly & Kelly, it is a very difficult time but we have all been thru it & SURVIVED. You guys scream, yell, cry, laugh & BRAG all about your recruits but just wait until the PIR. You have to decide when you were PROUDER, the day he was born or the min you see them walk thru the Hanger doors in their uniforms while being announced "Let's everyone Welcome our 798(?) United Sates Sailors
GIrls, just focus on that, have your tissues and back up batteries for the camera. You will go to your meet & greet and meet all the wonderful mms who went thru this with you, This is not just a chg for the recruits but their familes also. Welcome to Navy for Moms. 100% support!!
Don't forget start writng ur ltrs now so as soon as u get the address you can start mailing, one or 2 a day. Have eevryone you know write. They look forward to this but remember usually they can only write back on Sundays.

We're all headed out for one more "goodbye" dinner tonight (it's like the 10th gathering in a week!), I'm planning on taking lots of photos so I can mail him love from home. I think we are likely less worried about Chris than most families are. He'll make it through just fine and even though he contends he doesn't need letters he'll get dozens a week. I really only worry that he'll freeze! Can't wait to meet the new Chris in 9 weeks! Kelly, I'll make sure I tell Chris tonight to look out for Brandon, maybe they'll run into each other during processing since they both arrive tomorrow. Good luck!

When I talked to James on Friday (and in his letter I rec'd on Thursday) he said they give them plenty of clothes and they're almost too warm!!!

Hi Kelly,
My son left for BC today (12-15) also. We are from a small town in northwest PA. I didn't think I would feel this sad, because this is my third child to leave the nest. I guess it's all part of letting go. My son's name is Dave. I hope he and Brandon and the other recruits beginning this adventure today will become good friends and support one another during this experience. You will be OK. Each day it will get a little easier. Have you RSVP'd for the blue candle lighting? I plan to light a blue candle every day for the rest of this month. Good luck, and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
