OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am still new to this page (and I hope I'm posting this in the correct spot), but the support has already been wonderful.  My son is in DEP and ships out next July.  Our daughter is 12 and has always looked up to her brother, as they are very close.  She is just starting to show her emotions about her brother leaving next summer.  It's going to be incredibly hard for her.  Does anyone know of any resources out there that support navy/military siblings?  It would help for her to connect with others to realize that her emotions are normal.  Thank you in advance!

Thank you for asking this question. I've been looking for a sibling page but have yet to find one.
Never have seen one for them my youngest daughter could have used one during her brothers first deployment. This one she's older and dealing ok.

There are actually 3 different sibling groups on here but none are active.  Maybe if you all start posting in them you can get them active again.  Or you can always start your own group!

Siblings of Sailors (SOS):

http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/sos

Navy Siblings:

http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/navysiblings

Proud Navy Siblings:

http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/ProudNavySiblings

The problem with the site is if the creator of the group is no longer a member of N4M then the posts will not show up on the left side "Latest Activity".  If you start a new group then the activity will show up and everyone can see that posts are made and perhaps more people will join then since they know it's an active group.....

Thank you for sharing the links to those groups!  I will see if I can get some activity going on one of them again.

Another suggestion is to join your local Blue Star Mothers group.  They could probably offer some support.

Here's the link - you can look for a group in your area.

Here's the Wikipedia link:

There's also a Blue Star Mothers group on here, but again it isn't real active:
