Hello,

So my son has been in boot camp 2 days now....   I know he has a LONG road ahead of him, and I don't think I've ever felt so helpless!!  It has hit me a LOT harder than I expected.  I'm retired from Delta Air Lines, so I'm contemplating flying to Chicago just to see where he's at.  (knowing full well I can't go inside the gates, and I would never draw attention to him in boot camp!)  I found the 6 videos and they were very helpful, but I find myself searching for any info I can find.  The more info the better for me! LOL

Hang in there Vicki!  Count Fridays (rather than individual days) and the time will go by faster ;-D  Be sure to join the boot camp group (the link is on your page) and then the group for your sons PIR once you know what it is.

Thank you!  I'll try that.  Silly question.... what is PIR?

Also, I changed my user name because I noticed most were not first names.  Our whole family are certified divers.... so thus the new name.

Not a silly question - PIR = Pass In Review (graduation).

 PIR Reference Information.

I left info on your My Page that will help you get started.

Thank you!
We are actually in Chicago now! Any recommendations for good food, or VRBO?

Check out Where to Go in Chicago! and Saving Money PIR Weekend. You may get some ideas.

My son left July 24th for Bootcamp in Great lakes near Chicago. He just graduated yesterday! What an amazing site to see. You have that to look forward too! I received his box of clothes like a week after he left...totally happy to see dirty clothes. I actually slept with the shirt he wore just so I could smell him. He will get his first phone call between 3 to 5 weeks. Mine was later due to his division not all working together. He called on a Saturday morning at 9 sharp..I actually missed my call but he left a VM and he did call back 20 mins later. So keep phone close by at all times lol. Your son should be able to write on Sundays, I believe I got 4 letters while he was away. Stay strong mamma it does get easier each day.

Jennifer, Thanks for sharing and safe travels home from your wonderful weekend.

I left info for you on your My Page.
