Yes! My son is on the Theodore Roosevelt division 78. I'm glad to find someone else who has a child in the same division. Do you what boat # this is? I'm trying to find out so we can determine their PIR. Denise, what is your child's first name? My son is Philip. When I write to him I'll ask if he knows your child yet. I'm sure they'll get to know each other before this is all over :)

I'm so glad to find someone else too, did you get your form letter yesterday too.. My son' name is Jarred I too will ask my him if they know each other? In his form letter I got a bldg. # not a boat number. What day did you son leave and from where? I excited to hear from someone these last two weeks have been kinda hard but with someone to talk to about it makes it a little easier. How old is you son? Looking forward to PIR too. I will keep you posted?

My son left on Dec. 1. He is 23. He has already finished college with a degree in computers, but is going into AZ school after boot camp. He has an E3 rank already. He had joined the Navy in April so I knew this day was coming. It's been hard with him gone, but I keep telling myself that he is doing what he has wanted to do every since he was a little boy. I would just like to hear from him and find out how things are going and what he is doing. I think it's the "not knowing" anything that is the hardest. We are from Collierville TN (just outside of Memphis). Where is your son from? Tell me about him. It's so nice to have someone to talk to who is where I am with this waiting game. :) I'm going to try to find out what boat # they are in because we need to know that to determine their PIR date (I think). Do you know when they graduate? Let me know any news you get and I'll share what I find out with you. I'll be praying for your son along with mine. Good luck.

My son left on Nov 26 the day before Thanksgiving we live in Southern California, my son joined in May so I too knew that the day was coming, like you the not knowing is what is the hardest I think and really do believe its harder on us than on our children. When Jarred completes boot camp he is going to Florida for A school for 7 weeks. Then I believe he will then be assigned, god I am hoping for san diego, my son in law is on the Regan and my nephew is in sub program in san diego also. I live about 2 hours from San Diego so I could still see Jarred but if he gets east coast we will just deal with it. When Jarred left for boot camp no girlfriend so boot camp should be easy without that your son married girlfriend? Please excuse my jumping around I thinkl my brain works faster than my fingers. LOL Jarred is a great kid my only son and the baby he has 3 older sisters that all adore him, he is 20 years old. Knew from an early age that he wanted to go into the Navy. he graduated hs in 2007, but then had to meet the navy requirments as far as weight so he lost the weight passed the ASVAB tests and that he did all by May of this year and so he entered the DEP program. We are so proud of him. He is the baby and now that hes gone we have an empty nest and I truly thinks that why this seems to be harder for me the house is so quite. But I do have my grandkids that come and that helps a great deal unitl they ask where is Uncle Jarred anyway the holidays are going to be a little tough but we will get thru it I am just hoping for a phone call that would be nice. Whats AZ school and what is that for, Jarred is going to being doing aircraft handler and he wants to travel so aircraft carrier was for him. Well I have talked enough for now lets keep in touch I find it very enjoyable.

Hey Denise, AZ school is for aircraft maintenance administration. It's in Meridian Mississippi so it's only 4 hours from where we live. At least for a little while he will be near home. After that he, also, would like to be on a carrier. Philip doesn't have a "significant other" either so he doesn't have anyone except mom and dad to leave behind. His sisters are both married. I have 2 grandchildren (one was born the day before Philip left) that both live here in Collierville so we get to enjoy them. Our other daughter lives in Texas and we only get to see her 3-4 times a year. Philip hopes to stay in the Navy and make it a career (at least that was his thinking before boot camp) LOL. I'm anxious to hear from him. Maybe we'll both get letters or calls soon.

Hi all - my daughter is in ship 05 div 070 USS Theodore Roosevelt. Their PIR date is 1/23/09 - she left on Nov 18th and has to spend 9 actual weeks bcuz all the recruits hadn't shown up till that Friday - anybody receive a letter or phone call yet - I have received 1 letter - no phone call. I miss her like crazy - she's my oldest - 19 - and I hope it does get easier as time goes by. We are from Michigan - she tried going to CMU - didn't care for the college thing so she came came and enlisted in April of 08 and left in Nov.

HI -- my son is div 79 in T Roosevelt. Which is ship 05 by the way. The website is showing the PIR date as 1/23 up through divison 79. Which is a little early for Chris because he left 12/2..but based on Angie's comment I'm begining to understand that..didn't know they were waiting around..though I guess that makes since because you couldn't possibly have them all flying in and trying to get processed at the same time..LOL Cheryle, we are in TN also..Franklin County.

Hi Rhonda. Can you tell me the website where I can find the PIR dates? I know its on the website somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm surprised that my son will finish by 1/23. I was thinking it would be the next week. I want to make travel plans. I teach school and need to get a substitute for the days I'll miss. Nothing would keep me away. Have you joined the TN moms group yet? I think we're planning a get together some time in the spring. I plan to go to that. What A school is Chris going to?

Cheryle,
Follow this link for PIR date http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/family/upcominggrad.html
I thought it would be the next week too...so I hope they got it right...
I made reservations at the Residence Inn today...they have a liberal cancellation policy so I figured I'd better just go with 1/23 for now.
I did join TN moms group..I didn't see that they were having a get together..but I will go look again.
Also, I sent an invite to make you a friend
Chris is Aircrew Rescue Swimmer (aviation warfare) he will go pensacola for aircrew candidacy school and rescue swimmer training..about 10 weeks before he goes to his A School. he won't know where A-School is until after that 10 weeks, but he will have like 4-5 months of A School and then 6-9months of FRAC school so we have a long way to go after BC...LOL

My son's name is Jamie. He is USS T Roosevelt, DIV 078 also. We live in Cary, NC. My husband went to U. of Tennessee so hello to all of you in that great state. He went to high school in Johnson City. Jamie is naturally a Vol fan. He left 11/26. Due to a mixup in sending his belongings home, he got to call us for a few minutes last week to inform us of the mixup. He said he had been in p-hold for 4 days and that he hadn't even started doing anything yet. Sounds like some of your sons had the same experience. He also said that he had made a lot of friends since there were about 45 other recruits there also. So maybe that was a good thing and all of our sons/daughters have gotten to know each other already. Jamie's recruiter also told us that his graduation date is 1/23, so that is the same as the website. Jamie is signed up for AS (aircraft support) next, which is in Pensacola. But he qualified for air crew and may be able to do that. The recruiter told us that they will go through placement about 2-3 weeks before graduation and he will know then what he will do next. Either way, both are in Pensacola. I saw that Chris is doing swim rescue, good for him. That's really a tough school so we'll be rooting for him. Jamie wanted to do that but his eyesight is not quite good enough. He is a trained firefighter so he likes that sort of thing. We write several letters a week, so we'll start telling him about your sons/daughters. If they don't know each other yet, I'll bet they will before 1/23. Thanks for posting all the information you learn, I will too.

Hey to all div 078 moms. Have any of you gotten letters from your kids yet? I got one, but it was very short...more like a note really. I guess he takes his letter writing skills from his dad (ha ha). Maybe he just didn't have time to write more. The only thing he mentioned was how fast they had to eat. Other than that he said he was doing fine. I was just wondering if anyone else had more news to share. I'm so curious about what's going on I can't stand it. Maybe his next letter will include more info.
