Navy For Moms

I would like to thank all of you for your replies. It means a lot to me knowing that I do have a support system outside of my family. I did finally get the form letter from my son and had a letter waiting to send him and sent it out that day. Thank you all and the best to your son/daughter and I will keep them all in my prayers.

They get to send an informational letter home within the first week, but I am not sure how long it will take to arrive home. I got a letter dated Dec 7 on December 22, so there is a long time delay in between

My daughter shipped out on Tuesday also, I called her recruiter today and got the address you can also send some pics if you like. Good Luck

I called the recruiter yesterday and he said I would have to wait until my son wrote to us. Is there a general address in Great Lakes, ILL to write?

You can also contact the Public Affairs Office at Great Lakes for your recruit’s ship and division number. They can be reached at e-mail address rtc.public-affairs@cnet.navy.mil or by phone at (847) 688-5670 or (847) 688-2405.

I will given them a call, but since he just left on 1/7 I am guessing he does not have a ship # or division #. Thanks for the reply.

My son left Jan. 6 and I got the box with his belongings on Monday, Jan. 12. A form letter came the same day with his address and couple lines they get to write. Yours should be coming soon. You can always start your letter and have it ready to send as soon as you get the address.

Thank you, I got the same kind of box and the letter also came the same day. I did have a letter ready for him and put it in the mail that day. Thanks for the response.

Doreen,

You should probably get his address in a week or so. It will be in the box that has his clothes in it. In the box will be a standard letter sent out by the Navy and at the bottom of the last page there is a place for Recruit Comments and he will be able to write you line or two. My son Joshua left December 17th and I just got my first letter from him today. It is hard and yesterday I was crying like a baby because most of the moms that have Sailors graduating on the same day as my son, were getting letters and some phone calls. But today, I was crying because I finally got a letter from him and he is the same ole' Joshua.

Hang in there. It feels good to me to know that I can now write to the New Boot Camp Moms and to let them know that even though it is hard, it is also the best feeling in the world. Believe you me, a couple of weeks ago I was thinking how lucky the moms that were answering our questions and trying to let us know how it is, and now I'm one of those moms. The good thing about this group of Mom's is that there is always a mom that has been there and they can help us moms that haven't gotten that far yet.

We are here for you and know that you have the support of Moms that have been where you are and help you get through the rough days.

God Bless all of you and know our sons and daughters are the best this country has.

Jenna arrived in BC on Tuesday night, and I got her first letter here in Tucson on Saturday but it only gave her address

My son shipped out this past Thursday and that night I got the 10 second phone call -- "I'm here, you'll get my clothes in a few days, and I can call you again in 30 days -- Gotta Go!" Just wondering, is some officer standing over them telling them what they can say and how long they have. My son sounded fine, it was just a little weird.

Yes, my son mentioned that in his form letter. He said he was sorry, but they were under orders to keep their conversations to a 'script'.
