oh wow!! I did not realize either it was 4 months!! Yikes! That does seem outrageous. Sorry about that Ellen, and I do totally understand whatyour saying! Please don't feel like you need to drop the subject--this is EXACTLY the place we should all be able to come and to whine or moan or vent or let off frustrations!! We need to help each other and hold up each other-- Does he have any idea when he might be moving on?? Are they giving him any dates??

Thanks so much for the support and understanding Nan, Sue and HM2's mom - My son is an OS - Operation Specialist. He hasn't been given a date yet for school but told me recently that 43 OS's just graduated so that is great and hopefully will mean some movement. I really appreciate being able to express my feelings and have other moms receptive to it. I'm very proud my son is part of the Navy and know as things progress, he will continue to know he made a good decision. With the way the economy is right now I should just be grateful he has a job and is getting paid no matter how tedious the circumstances. Thanks again - hope everyone has a good night and upcoming week.

My son said the same thing to my husband, he had watch last night so they couldn't talk. I don't like or agree with group punishment but that is life. I was just having the same topic discussion with my 13yr daughter. She has to have silent lunch becasue others couldn't behave in class. My husband said he used to beat up the guys that caused the punishment back in the day. My son just past his test with a 100.

this is what I hear from my dad & uncle. that was how they held the troops in line "peer pressure"
It is used in schools all the time. especially in sports or the lunchroom as you said. My son just finished A school and is waiting for his orders for C school. he cant wait to leave Great Lakes.

My son graduated from boot camp on Oct 31st and has been moved three times still awaiting A school. We have no idea what the hold up is. In the meantime he just sits and waits. He has been a bit frustrated with the wait but he is trying to make good use of his time and making new friends. We sent him his laptop and TV and he got a cell phone. I talked with him tonight and he said they ahad to muster (sp?) again tonight at 2300. He saiod lots of the guys are getting in trouble drinking etc so the whole ship pays the price. My son is 29 and is personally fed up with babysitting the young guys but I try to remind him he was younger once too and give em some slack. He is just frustrated. I think they are just bored waiting for school to begin and with the cold they are out of things to keep themselves busy. They can voluterr though as my sone recently got to go and help at a Chicago Bulls game and met the team. At first he did not want to voluterr as he figured he'd be shoveling snow or something but he says they actually get off base and get to do some great things.

My daughter Emily just moved over to A school at GL this past Wed after her PIR 9/25. She's supposed to start in a couple of weeks. In the meantime she's enjoying more freedom and also keeping busy with various activities.
