Hi Julie,
My son is in Corps School now. I believe if they are traveling in uniform it must be their dress blues. She can have her phone, ipod , computer , etc. We sent our son his xbox and he has a tv in his room too. Hope this helped answer your questions. Feel free to talk anytime. Good luck to your daughter and hope your having a wonderful Christmas.

They wear their dress blues traveling. They were their boot camp clothes for schooling. They can have most anything tho in their rooms but some "A" school don't allow certain things. But laptop, cell phones, etc are ok at most "A" schools.

Hi Julie... My son is also starting Corpsmen school on Jan 5th, he PIRed 12/5 so he had a few weeks to get used to his new home!! The barracks he is in are nice and some what new, he shares a room with one other person and they share the rest rooms with 2 other guys that share a room. It is at least comfy and clean. He leaves for GL saturday morning, and I'am not looking forward to that, but he is ready to get started. He has 3 years of college so I hope that will help him with the medical side, had all pre-recs done for nursing school and decided he wanted to join the Navy. Tell your Sailor good luck and Thanks for her service to our country.

My son is also at Great Lakes "A" school but he's there for IC Interior Communcations.
Is there any one else on here with someone just starting IC school?

My son is also in Corspman school, they are to wear their utlities. Apparently they are not allowed to wear any civilian clothes yet. Hopefully you have gotten your answers by now. Remind your daughter to lock up anything of value like laptop, cell phone (not allowed to take to class) i-pod etc. Unfortunately for all the good sailors there is always that one!

Hello. My son Aaron returned to Great Lakes for A-School on January 3 also. I haven't heard from him. It's been almost a week. He said he would call and it's not like him to not call. Is anyone else still waiting to hear from their sailor at Great Lakes? I see there is a contact number listed in this group. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can get some information.

Hi Michele.. My son returned to GL on Jan. 3rd and classed up on Monday. He has been able to call after his classes everyday. Do not know if they did not class up if it is different or not. Was he to start his A school on Monday or was he waiting for his class to form??? And I would also call if I did not hear from my son. Keep us posted and I'am sure everything is okay!!!

Hi Sue. It's was the funniest thing. Right after I posted the message, Aaron called. I don't know why he didn't call before and I didn't ask. I was so happy to hear his voice I didn't care. He absolutley loves it there. Aaron was in Division 086. What division was your son in? Maybe they know each other.

Our sailor returned to GL on Sunday Jan. 4th and was hoping that A School would be starting soon. So far, we are still waiting to hear if this has started since she indicated that classes would start today. She is FC and PIRed on 11/21/08.
Anyone hear if FC A School has started?
Just like Michelle, with this message sent to the group, hopefully she will either call or text us with the latest update :-?
Otherwise, any info from this group is helpful regarding the status of the FC A School group!

I talked to my sailor last PM and he started ATT school yesterday and it goes for 36 days he said. It is self paced and can be finished sooner. After they do this ATT school then they head on to A school according to him. He graduated PIR on Oct 31 yet a couple of his buddies who graduated the same time have yet to start any school so I'm not sure how they determine start times for the sailors. But it certainly seems like a lot of sitting around.

My son PIRd Oct 31, also, and he says he's classed up, too.
