OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

*****BATTLESTATIONS*****
This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors. It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that they could have when deployed on a ship. It is a culmination of all that they have learned during bootcamp. Each division goes through with its brother division. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night (usually 2 sets of brother divisions, but sometimes a 900 and 800 division tag onto 2 brother divisions). But less can go also.
At the conclusion of BattleStations, there is a capping ceremony. The recruits are now sailors! This is actually their graduation ceremony. They have chores and things to do that day before making the "I'm a Sailor" call...so calls normally don't come in until starting around 2 pm GL time and can go through into early evening.
Since this is a smaller PIR group, they may not start BattleStations until PIR week. But they could start them the Thurs. night a week before, continuing Sun-Wed if all of those nights are needed (most likely not in this case). Your recruits will know when their division is scheduled for BattleStations. So ask and then please post below so that we can get a schedule started on this page.

53+54, 55+56, 57+58
910 will tag on to 2 brother divisions or will go alone.

Alisha: There is all kinds of confusion over this. We had been told that true GradNGos leave on Friday, and those leaving on Saturday are called Saturday departures. However, my son left on Sat and was called GradNGo (his term when he called to tell me). Then someone said recently that they called RTC and they said no longer does anyone leave on Friday ..but Arwen said that is not true. My guess for your daughter is: She may possibly be bussed out on Friday night...to the airport...then her flight could leave on Fri or early Sat. Do you know if she is on a charter or domestic flight? If a charter, you cannot see her after you drop her back at RTC. But if a domestic flight, you can meet her at the airport and continue your visit there, including getting a military gate pass (with ID) to stay with her at the gate. So don't be discouraged yet...she should get more details as she gets closer to PIR. Pray that it isn't a charter! :-)

I think they have been given the date that they finish BattleStations, not when they start. They would not have the recruits doing this and then miss Captains Cup on Sat. So keep me posted...unless they are doing Captains Cup on another date...which I have only seen happen once in the year I have been on here. Most of BattleStations is done in the early morning hours....so actually, most of it will be done on the 21st even though they will go into it the night before. Maybe that is what they mean.

Sherry, they are judged individually and in their "group." They are not judged as a division, they are divided into smaller "teams." So it is possible that a "team" could fail...or individuals. Usually just a handful do...most pass. And the ones who fail the first time get another chance and are pretty much guaranteed to pass....unless they just totally give up!

I am doing BattleStations schedules for the other groups. The 1/21 group has BattleStations scheduled for the 18th/19th, so there is no way this group will be going then. They don't mix PIR groups with BattleStations except when someone fails...then it is possible that they will do it again with a future PIR group, but not with a PIR group before them. The RDC's may be messing with the recruits a bit on the dates too! HA!
