When doing RAP-make sure you get the paper work done and get the credit-you know how paper work can get suffled around here and there. It can happen anywhere.

Katie was on break during Christmas from A School from GL for her DC school. She had to use her leave and actual borrow some (I know there's an official name for that, but I can't remember at the moment.) Katie was able to do the 5 days of 'RAP' duty between A school and her shipping over to Japan.

A message for NavyMomXXXY and Catherine W,

A new mom on the Daughters group 2 is looking for moms whose daughter's are officers. Her daughter is currently in NROTC in SCSU and she is questioning continuing in the program because she is getting some real negative input from one of her professors. I told the mom that both of you have officer daughters and maybe she should talk to you two.
If you are interested in reading her post, she is on page 5 or 6 of the comments.

Hope all is well with everyone!!!

Thanks, Pat. I rarely get on the Main page so I would miss it. Appreciate your keeping us posted.

Pat, I did join the Nimitz group to follow what you are doing and for ideas of how to help. I would really find it helpful if we had a discussion topic here where you posted progress and kept us up on what's going on. We could also put ideas in it. Two reasons I would find it helpful. One, all the Nimitz things are in one location and it is easier to go back to find a note if needed. Second, I belong to several (too many) groups. Several times "My Groups" page indicates that there has been a recent response. I have to go to the group to see if it is a reply to the "adopt" discussion. Just a thought.

Oh, I love living near the water. We live on a bay now. It was beautiful today. It was windy and the whitecaps were all over.

ThanksMom, my stomping ground was not too far from Herndon. My "home" town was a small place called Waterford. We had land north of Leesburg until a few years ago when we retired. We realized that it was big city and we loved a rural area so we sold it to build our house up in Maine. Actually, I think had I realized that we were going to inherit the whole place, I would have kept the house in Florida although neither of us cared for the hot weather. We do recognized that someday we will not be able to keep up in the winter. That's another day!

Hi everyone! it has been sometime since I have been here. After 14 months my daughter got to come home.We had so much fun.We stayed busy the whole time-we did give her some rest time too. I took lots of pictures. I am working on them. Hopefully I will have them on here soon.

Good Evening everyone. It's nice to see everyone here!
Marianne, I used to live in Annapolis and loved it. I also like all the visits we got to do when my son was in VB. I think I really like living nearby the water.

I grew up as a service brat. At that time, dads were in the Navy and moms followed them or waited until they returned home. When I was quite young, I decided that being married to someone in the Navy was not easy and swore I would not. I didn't but I did marry a gypsy. My kids said that we didn't have spring cleaning, just spring moving.

I can't imagine trying to juggle two naval careers. Shoot, juggling two careers period is hard, even without the moving and deployments. Marriage under perfect circumstances ... is there such a thing?? ... is difficult and requires work.

My personal bias is that the first few years in the Navy, or any other service, should be spent growing up, enjoying the world. Time should be spent figuring out who you are and who "that other person" is.

Marianne, where did you live in the DC area? The closest thing I had to a home base was in Loudoun County. I still have family there.
