We found out more on that punishment. It was a different petty officer that punished them, he took all their furniture and made them sit on the floor for 3 hours at a time and stare at their toes, among the other stuff. When that petty officer went off duty the petty officer who's cover was actually stole came on duty. He knew it was done by a recruit who had already shipped out, and said it was pointless to punish those who hadn't done it so he ended the punishment. And that other petty officer doesn't come back on duty until after my son is home, which is tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son was given a medical discharge after one week of boot camp. And it was for something stupid. He went into the doctor to get arch supports and the doc saw him shaking his leg. Well the doc asked him why he was nervous and he said he wasn't. So the doc asked why he was shaking his leg and he said that it was something he had always done. So right there and then the doc gave him a medical discharge for Restless Leg Syndrome, with no testing or anything.

Now he has been in SEPS for almost 2 weeks and he is being treated worse than prisoners. The other day a discharged recruit stole a petty officers cover and put something in it, before it was discovered the recruit was shipped home. So when the petty officer discovered it he demanded for the perpetrator to come forward and confess, well since he is already gone the petty officer punished the whole ship. They now have to sit of the floor for 3 hours per day for the rest of the week, their galley time got reduced, and their phone privileges were taken away.

He was supposed to get his ship date yesterday but since all this happened yesterday he still doesn't even have his ship date. So we are just hoping this stupid petty officer doesn't delay all of their ship dates just to keep their punishment for something they didn't do.

Right now my husband and I are furious and completely disillusioned to the military and will discourage anyone from joining.

My son is being medically discharged because he hurt his hamstring. He is in fourth week of boot camp. He is very distraught over this!! as I am too. He really wants to go back and was told after a year he can reenlist. I have been looking on the internet and getting all kinds of different answers. How can I get a good solid answer as to if he can reenlist. He called me yesterday with the news but not sure when he can call again. Do you know when the kids in Ship 05 get to call. I am really wanting some information but can 't seem to find what I want. Thank you

He has been in less than 180days. Yes, he said it is a lot of paperwork!

He is coming home and going right back to his previouse job I dont know if you heard of Ceder Point but he worked as a bar tender at the TGIFridays there, and is going back and then starting back school in the fall to finish his blachlors degree so he does have a plan, which I am proud of!

I do plan on getting him in to see a proffessional, cause this is NOT at all like him! He has been away from home many times...I was totally caught off guard by this.. but I do believe being stuck in phase 1 liberty for over 2months is what sent him over the edge unfortunately! That was NOT suppose to happen and like I think I said, there were many superiors who had to answer for that!!! As they should!!!

thank you for your kind words of support and advice.. I will keep updating as more news comes in....thanks again...

I realize this is a slooowww moving wall but I am really depressed and disapointed that my son was encouraged to take an honorable adminstrative discharge in stead of helping him with any axiety or issues he had! I feel like he was failed!

His contract ws a joke, he continued to be lied to, but that was found out and someone god in big trouble for leaving at phase 1 liberty for over 2months! and that is what lead to all these issues!!!

I can't believe it is over for him... he said he will be home at the end of April, he went in boot camp around the 3week of October....his other brother is a reservist and will be home next week and took the news so hard...gosh I am just feeling so many things....just needed to vent

My son ( I have 2 in the Navy, one is just finishing Aschool in San Antonio and will be home at the end of March, a reservist Corpsmen, other is active in Pensacola but now is leaving the Navy) both PIR in Dec. My son who is leaving, or being separated as he likes to call it...well he is vague about what is going to happen, how long etc..

He started have major axiety, depression, panic attacks after he got to Aschool right after Christmas. He was never moved from phase 1 liberty and I KNOW that was ahuge contributing factor, also the fact that he was told he would be able to start school for MANY months (est. about 5-8) So he decided to be released from a special ops contract and go undesignated and then things went downhill from there..

So now he says it will be about 2months till he comes home. He thinks he will have an administrative discharge.

What, if any information can you share with me.. I am really at a loss ... bit disappointed...his brother took the news very hard..but said after talking to him he understands better and thinks it is what is best for him.

He has never had problems with anxiety, depression or panic attacks before this.

Thanks for letting me share my story...

My son graduated A school in April. He signed up for active duty but was told halfway through A school his job had not come open so they transitioned him into reserves. He comes home and reports to the reserve office where we live and they have no record of him! For three months he shows up for drill weekends and they don't know who he is! He would give his name and they would pencil him in only to not be on the roster again the following month. Finally got that straight, but still my son is left hanging. He hates the drill weekends. He was never assigned to a unit, no one ever showed him what he was supposed to be doing. One month he reports only to be told "what are you doing here - you've been reassigned" to another office an hour and a half away. He never knew about this and had already missed the other office's drill weekend for the month. When the next drill weekend rolls around and he drives to the new assignment, he learns he has more than 9 missed drills and is being discharged!!! He did miss one drill weekend that he made up and he missed another one in August that was excused, but they are not showing him his attendance record so he has no idea if the drills that are being held against him are from early on or from when he was reassigned or what. He has already been back to the local nosc where they yelled at him and made him sign something that he said were discharge papers, but he doesn't know the details and they did not give him a copy. I'm sorry for the long post and it is so convoluted! This is a nightmare!

Wow.  So they do have to call someone, and she didn't call us???  As I said the recruiters won't tell me anythying, but I want to know why they don't make sure the family knows.  That is just not right at all.  But neither is what my daughter did. @snmouse, as painful as that was, it would be no excuse to hide it from your parents.  I'm sorry about your situation, but you did go home and tell the truth.  You did the right thing.  Thank you.
