Welcome Lorraine,

Please edit out your phone #'s and feel free to p.m. personal info to any of use that you
feel comfortable with.

My son is on a Ship doing weather observations and loves it.
Vabch moms son is in Norfolk in forcasting school right now and enjoying.
Most all in the field enjoy it.
It is a small rating though where you don't go up quickly in advancement.
Some of the AG's are in Japen also.

A couple of the moms on here - there son's are still in A school.
Feel free to ask more questions of us and we are looking forward to another AG.

Michael finished his 10 weeks of forecasting school the week of November 10 and is back to work at NOB now. He also took the advancement test in September and like a lot of other sailors got their results back this week. He's now and AG3 although they don't see the pay for months. He scored in the 95th percentile and was thrilled to find out he passed. He loves what he's doing as an AG.

Hi AG Moms!
I am new to this group, but not NavyForMoms. My son is graduating from A School in Biloxi this week and headed to Pearl Harbor! That will take some getting used to saying. I love this site! You all are the best.

Hi my name is Justin, i am a junior in HS, and i am thinking about joining the navy, and the AG rate intrigued me.

But i have a few questions, and if you could answer it through your experiences with your son or daughter, it would be greatly appreciated.

where do i go to A school
how long is A school
What is their fun to do at the A school location (can you have fun while at A school?)
What can i bring, and what can i not bring while at A school.
Where would i be stationed at after A school
Do i get to pick?
How long am i actully in a ship out at sea?
Is it like 6 months solid months at sea? or is it broken up into like 5 weeks at sea, 4 weeks at shore, 6 weeks at sea, etc, etc...
what s the working enviroment like?
Most important: Do i have to be smart in math, i'm not to hot in math :(

Any other advice, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated

Is it like 6 months solid months at sea? yes sometimes longer
or is it broken up into like 5 weeks at sea, 4 weeks at shore, 6 weeks at sea, etc, etc... --- during workups it is like that, but not during deployment.
what s the working enviroment like? He enjoys it.
Most important: Do i have to be smart in math, i'm not to hot in math : I think it is more science than math.

Any other advice, comments, etc would be greatly appreciated
