I am so excited for the family cruise. My husband can't go because of his recent medical troubles. I hope I will be able to video tape. Does anyone know if video taping is allowed on the family cruise?

I'm excited too! Rick and I have a vacation planned around the cruise. I don't know about video. Check the penny press, there might be someone you can contact to ask.

Hi Carol,
I bet your Ombudsmen can answer that! :)
Family cruises are a lot of fun.

That would be good info to know, Carol. When I visited Jared on the Lincoln in Jan. while ported here in San Diego, I wasn't allowed to take any pictures then, which was no problem. But being a Family Day... it would be nice to be able to take some pictures, at least while out on deck!
We also are planning a vacation trip to WA around the cruise, Mary. I can hardly wait. :)

I made our plane reservations last night!!! We were allowed to take pictures when we went on the boat in October after the homecoming and if I remember correctly I saw people with video cameras also. I would think it would be allowed on family day also--I sure hope so especially for the air show. Looking forward to going out to WA again!!

How nice that you got to be there for Family Day. I enjoyed seeing the photos and will be looking at the Penny Press closely this week. Got an email from Brandon letting us know he was back home now.

When is this family cruise? Is it just for families of the current sailors? My daughter reports to WA near the end of July. She's finishing up nuke school right now and will be based on the Lincoln.

Oh wait, I just noticed this thread is a couple months old. Still, I have questions!
When a ship is deployed, at what part of the deployment does a Tiger Cruise occur? Is there one every time?

Welcome, Dawn.

The Tiger Cruise happens at the end of the deployment, when the ship goes to Hawaii. The family members meet the ship in Hawaii and cruise to San Diego. They can continue up to Everett, however, my husband did this and said that part of the trip was very boring. All of the planes get offloaded in San Diego, and there's not much happening on the last leg of the trip. My daughter and I plan on doing the next Tiger Cruise and we'll do just the Hawaii-San Diego part.

A lot of crew members get off in Hawaii, leaving space on the ship for the Tigers.

I know the Lincoln is in maintenance right now. Does anyone know if they've given out an approximate date for it's next deployment? I suspect not, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask!
