Hey momx5, I have a quick question. My son arrived on the Lincoln at the end of May and was assigned to the barge also. However, he is still living on it. How did your daughter get to move to the barracks so quickly?

The Navy provides van transportation from Everett to Bremerton (and back). He parks at the base and gets in the van, which takes the Edmonds Ferry and drives on down. He likes to keep his car over here, for when he's off work. I don't think he cares much about exploring Kitsap - his heart is over on this side of the water.

He stays in Bremerton in the barracks when he's working, and comes home on his days off (works 2-3 days on, has 2 days off).

He was going to drive himself last week, until he found out how expensive it would be. The van is free.

Momx5, my son has a car. He parks it on the base in Everett and takes their transportation over to Bremerton. He's home several times a week (local girlfriend is the drawing card).

Sue -
What an AWESOME story and you are an AWESOME person!

momx5 - yes, our Sailor has a car, but he's married and lives off base with his family, so they need it daily. Good luck with her search!

Hi ladies,
I was interviewed by local station about my pillowcase project. It is now online and you can view it at Local mom puts troops Heads at Ease

I am trying to do it as a link. go to KOLD.com to view it. There is a video and written story.

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Did anyone get to spend it with their Sailor?

He hasn't mentioned it yet. I'll ask him when I see him.

Barb,
I keep forgetting to ask Ryan if they started getting the food allowance after they put the chit in for that. When I was out there they hadn't gotten it yet in their paycheck, so maybe by now they have? Do you know?
