Martyzmom, I, too, thought the ship was still in dry dock. I think that is correct, because my daughter asked some who should know in her squadron after she arrived at Whidbey Island in February. I think her info is correct, or they would be preparing to deploy now, but they are not.

But, you never know. Chances are good that your son will have some time to prepare for a deployment. What job is your son doing?

Oh! I thought the ship is still in dry dock till January. My son graduates on Friday from A school and was supposed to come home next Monday but he called yesterday to tell me his orders are postponed until Oct 15th. Yes, I too would like to hear if he is going to be going out to sea earlier than January! Thank you! Cathy

My daughter is assigned to a squadron with the USS Abraham Lincoln, and she has been told she will be deployed in the fall of 2010. She is now in San Diego, and will go to Nevada next, both short little "debts" that her squadron is "paying".

Anybody know anything more recent than I do? Do the carriers go out with different crews on different deployments?

Finally! I found a group for *my* carrier - that is, the one my daughter is assigned to, the USS Abraham Lincoln. However, I am very confused by what I have been reading about deployment.

My daughter is at Whidbey Island with a squadron of Prowlers. She has been told that she will not be deployed until fall 2010 - but I have now read that some here think the USS Lincoln is going out this fall.

My daughter is now in San Diego where she and her squadron is fulfilling a "debt" for 9 days. After they come back to Whidbey, they are going to Nevada for a short while, so it does not sound like they are going to be deployed on the carrier for a while.

Does anybody know any more about this? I really don't want to be surprised by a deployment this fall... I need LOTS of time to prepare mentally for this... :-) support our troops.gif
