As far as sending clothes I would wait until they can have them and wear them. They have to phase up and be in good standing. Priority mail isn't to bad, I sent two of the biggest boxes they had and no more than 40 bucks. With tv's and gaming he had to get permission for that. And then got a tv gaming system games and some kind of cable to be able to watch Netflix and play games at a outlet on base. But again after A school to send all back was very expensive so my son has to get rid if alot, but he gave to the next person so he didn't have to take to duty station. So that is something to think about. Not only that they also purchase clothes at NEX.

Just bring maybe 2 outfits to start. The closets are small and fill up quickly.

Hi...my son is in GL. I broght jeans and laptop to PIR. He didn't want the jeans. Ended up shipping 2 weeks later. Expensive to mail. Bring. He can keep in closet. He did take his laptop.

Hello!  I am new to this group as our son is due to graduate from BC this Friday 5/18.  He will be staying in GL for A school and has asked for some things from home.  Is it best to wait and ship his civilian clothes instead of bringing them this weekend to PIR? He did say he cannot wear them for a couple of weeks. Also he asked for a laptop, would that be something to wait on until he knows his barracks policies?  Thanks for any advice you have!

TVs, not Vs....

She can have her phone and a tablet/laptop.  While some do have desktop computers, Vs, or gaming systems, they either have to get special permission to leave them out, or lock them in their locker when not in use.  Not recommended until she knows her barracks policies.  Lots of people end up selling the bigger items when they leave Great Lakes.
