My daughter is currently in BC, she'll be attending A school  for AECF in GL . We would like to bring up her stuff when we attend her PIR. Can anyone tell me what we can bring her (ie electronics )

In bootcamp, one of my RDCs told us to change our socks at every opportunity and keep our feet dry, it helps with smell, but it also helps prevent infection or anything. Most of us just used baby powder because there’s not a lot of room in the drawer, and baby powder can do a lot, help with chafing, dry shampoo, keep other areas dry, etc. Just shake a little into the socks, and put on your socks and boots. If the boots still stink, you can put it in the boots overnight as well. He probably has more options and space at the NEX, something like odor eaters will have the same results.

I Hear that a Good anit bacterial soap to wash feet in and epsom salts kill the bacteria and also relieves swelling and muscle aches.

In the military and the medical field they know to wear wool socks. Wool socks are a must if you have sweaty feet in work boots.

dont know how true that is?

Good afternoon everyone!  I wonder if anyone has any good suggestions from their sailors regarding eliminating foot / sock / boot odor.  My son is having a terrible time with this issue and would probably be mortified if he knew I was asking, but I want to send him a care package soon and thought I would include some magic solution for him!  Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Ladies thought I would share a little something that had happened yesterday.

Yesterday my Son was asked by his Recruiter he had prior to going into BC if he could come down and do a speech and answer questions for those that will be going in after High School Graduation. So He did, and he said he got a little upset because when answering questions or explaining how BC really is and how many go in really not knowing what to expect, they made jokes about it. He said they really werent taking anything serious. So my Son told them if you cannot do 50 or more situps or push ups in two min. ask yourselves do you belong in Boot camp, if you cannot run or swim do you belong there? My Son said once he said that that they stopped joking around and started taking things serious. He told them it is not a game, you go in and do what is needed or asked and move on. He told them he seen too many not taking things serious and they were booted out and if that is what they are their for then dont waste their time, because he said there are alot of guys and girls that want to be there but struggle and some make it and some dont. My Son would work with the ones that showed they wanted to be there and were struggling and they eventually went on to PIR, So when he comes across those that joke around he has no tolerance for them. Sounds pretty hard but he believes those who have their heart in it belong, said he seen too many goof off and then they end up having to get in trouble for those, he said he couldnt wait till they started weeding those out of BC. Just thought I would share.

Hi TahoeZephyr & Bandmom Thank you for your stories. Yes it is hard to mesh with everyone, however they finally passed room inspection. I believe two of the roommates are leaving soon, my Sailor will be happy... He is knows it's not easy getting along with everyone, but some people need to have respect. I really appreciate your insight with this situation it helps to hear from you ladies!! It keeps me sane... Sending (((hugs)))....

Hi Allison, My son had a similar situation.  He went to the NEX and got good head phones  and an eye mask.  He hooked the head phones to his alarm, so that he knew he would be up in time.  But at least he could sleep.  As for the cleaning etc, he made sure that all of his stuff was the way it was supposed to be.  It didn't take long and the trouble make was gone.  Bunk mates come and go in A School.  Maybe the trouble makers will be gone soon.  Your sailor is in my prayers.

Allison - my son had the same problem when he first arrived back in GL; he was initially housed with 2 BUDS drops and apparently one of them had a chip on his shoulder so decided to sabotage the efforts of his roommates during room inspections; my son was a bit frustrated as he was trying to get back his phase 3 privileges because his car was gathering dust in the parking lot; before he got to the point where he felt he needed to take action, the problem solved itself:  something about a "super-glue on the toilet seats" prank that some of the divers pulled off, so the supervising officers shuffled room assignments to separate them from the other rates (my son is GM); in no time, he and his new roommates passed inspection and he phased back up!  Not sure I have any advice, but thought I would share his experience...good luck!

Hi Laura, thank you for giving me some insight on this situation, I just felt so bad for him... I will definitely tell him to talk to the Chaplin.. He did tell me he tried to speak up, but maybe he needs to keep speaking up...
