Sandy, it does depend on those orders and also which barracks they’re living in. When my husband graduated ET A School, he did not have liberty on graduation day until normal time. Some sailors on other ships (barracks) were allowed to begin liberty early. Still, I did get to spend quite a bit of time with him taking pictures and socializing before he went back to the barracks for a few hours until he could come home (he had live ashore because we were married and lived together)). How long they have before they have to report to C School depends on when a seat becomes available in the school they’re being assigned to. I would say it’s more likely they’ll have time between A and C School than not. Very few people were being rushed to the airport to get to their next duty station, like I know one student in my husband’s class left that night, and one left the next day, so that’s only 2 out of about 20. A lot of sailors take leave during this time between schools. I hope that helps :).
His orders can come any time. Usually they come about a month before graduation, there may be hold ups sometimes, but most orders come in within a month for A School students. Tell him to keep checking NSIPS, they’ll be on there as soon as they’re ready :).
barefootie, that is a bummer. I wish that I would have known you were there. I would have loved to have met you. Super happy that you got to be there as well. I did talk to some of the parents. Maybe I talked to you and didn't even know it. LOL
Barefootie Congrats to your Son as well. I am with you on that knowing everyone's face to put with the name we chat with. To bad they don't have a reunion of some sort for us Mothers to get to know one another, that would be fun!.
mom of two you are welcome, My Son as well just went with the flow, just did as he was told. He was pretty excited at the same time being in San Diego.
Phoenixmom and Anti M , Thank you both so much. I figured he would probably do that, but was curious. He isn't very informed, but I know he is still in the unknown category as well! thanx again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mom of 2 ... that date is a report no later than date. He can request to take about a week of leave if he has some on the books or wants to do some RAP at home, helping the local recruiter. He can earn up to five days of uncharged leave by doing that.
He might be on hold until they get his travel orders ready to go. He certainly can check in early to his new command. He will be busy initially checking in, going to indoc (every new command has an introductory training), and learning the base, the ship, and what he needs to do for his quals.
Good Morning Ladies Happy chilly Wednesday, this weather here in Phoenix is so strange, last month it seemed like we were heading into summer and now this Month we are having an actual winter. LOL!
BandMom Congrats to your Son, the Ceremony sounded like it was Amazing! So Glad you were there.
Mom of two when my son Graduated A school the next Day he was sent to his Duty Station, He was to start Feb. 7th so for the Days he was there he stayed in his room or walked around the base to locate everything, one Day he stood watch and then next got orders to be sent to his ship. So I am guessing it all depends. But Congrats to your Son also! another Journey we have to learn.
Wishing you Ladies a Great Day!
