Vee, have a great time! What part of GA? I went to one of my C schools at Ft. Gordon, near Augusta. I am so not a Southern gal, didn't care for the humidity. Or the Army base, LOL.

Hoppi, the last few days are the worst because you know that any time you can get an answer. Earlier, you knew it would be a while. It's like waiting for a medical test. Once the test is done, you know that someone knows the answer and you want it now! My fingers are crossed for both you and Will! BTW, what's the COC?

Vee, I'll send you a PM so you won't be left out of the loop. I suspect you will find it no matter what.

Hi all - Vacationing in Georgia and just caught up on the posts here.

Hoppi and Will - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and waiting to hear the good news. I just hope your announcement doesn't get lost in all the comments in between my times on the computer here. Wishing you the very best...Vee

Anti M - a big HELLO from Georgia....I arrived here yesterday afternoon and am having a blast with my family. Michael took leave while on hold for A school after he completed INDOC, SCC and ATT. I believe he took 10 days that he had on the books.

OK yall, this is the skinny on security clearance prior to A School. There is none. You get it when you get it. Quote from Brett. "Some people had interviews in boot and some people have to fill this thing out in A school. They don't tell you about it, you have to access it with your ID and the instructors should be able to tell them how to do it. They have to get it done to get orders. They have to start with the ID login on NKO and then the Chiefs office if they don't have their clearance. Some people just have it, others don't. They just have to check." Hope this answer is what you are looking for. Bill

"On hold" is when they have reported to their school, but their classes have not begun. It can be several weeks if there is a backlog.
Comment by Anti M on July 28, 2009 at 2:23pm
I thought that was the case... I knew it didn't sound right at all. Makes sense they can go when on hold if they've completed what they can.

I've seen a couple comments around the boards about new sailors taking leave straight out of boot camp because A schools don't start right up. Now I know darn well they have to check into that A school command, and leave while on hold isn't always approved. am I missing something new? Going on leave between A school and boot camp, I know it used to be done, as in 30 years ago, but now? Am I behind the curve again?

Good evening all....
I'll be on vacation now for a couple of weeks or so and will hopefully get some computer time at my son's home in Georgia where I'm going to visit. You will all be missed and I look forward to catching up with everyone when I get back.
God bless all of you and all of your sailors!!!

Good morning! The sun is trying hard to shine but the clouds are trying to hide it. The weather is cool and there's slight breeze. Love that but would love to see some sun.

Hoppi, If you want to contact Victoria about doing a mural, her ship is the Halsey. I suspect there are not many who go by Victoria (no nickname) and are in AT. She just completed her basic electronics course and will be at GL until August 6 (at least that is the schedule for now). I am sure she would love to do something if it is not too complicated.

Have a great Saturday! I'm going to try to make some pillowcases for Molly's Adopt a Sailor project. I always hate cutting into the material for fear I will make a mistake. I must remember measure twice and cut once!
