OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is being at BC for a few weeks. Like some recruits my son is stressed and like many parents, I am encouraging him through letters and the one call I received him, that he can do this, for him to keep the faith, that everyday he is progressing toward his goal.

So glad you are here.  You are doing the right thing in encouraging your son.  I often re-read my letters and make very sure only happy and encouraging things escape my pen.  I also send cartoon, clippings, family memories, anecdotes, funny headlines, BIBLE quotes and many other uplifting things.  Congratulations to you for having such a fine young man for your son.  My own is now less than two weeks from graduation.  You can do this.  Keep happy thoughts.

Thank you, like you I do try to only convey positivity in various forms. Congratulations to you, too.

Welcome BrandyHill, you have come to the right place. You will find much Encouragement here. It can be a struggle for the Recruits these first few weeks, But continue doing what you are doing and let him Know us Moms are routing for him 100%. Great Job!

You're telling him exactly what he needs to hear!!  It was so hard to read my son's first letters where he said he hated boot camp.  I think that may be a universal feeling for new SR's.  I allow myself only one simple "I miss you" in my letters to him, but the remainder is full of love and encouragement.

As mom it pains me to see him feeling this way, but seeing that others have gone through it helps. Thank you, all. My best to all your recruits.

Do you belong to Sandboxx?

Yes, i do. I send him bot usps mail and through sandboxx
