HI -i think that is Jimmy's PIR -he left on the 12th. He is on ship 09 Divison152 although I have read here the address changes 3 x's . I am looking forward to going but am a little dissappointed that it is Good Friday -we always go to church Thurs and Friday nights -oh well at least we will all be together on Easter Sunday. We use to live south of Chicago and thought we could to back there but it is more thatn 50 miles so we will be looking for some place close to stay, Do you know when they send the grad packet with the hotel info etc??? keep in touch I need to go get a new winsheild put in my van :(. I hope I get a letter today -got the box on tuesday! Dorothy

If you haven't received the official form letter yet you should be getting it any day now. I didn't realize that was Good Friday. If you were told division 152 I wouldn't think that would change (unless for some reason he would get delayed during the training process and get moved back to another division). It seems that the recruiters give the address with the ship number, but the official letter uses only the ship name and division name and just Recruit Training Command instead of an actual street address.

I don't think the grad packet comes until at least the 4 week point. I sure wouldn't be wanting to buy any tickets or make any reservations unless they can be canceled without a penalty. It seems PIR can be delayed for so many different reasons.

Hi. My son is in Div 149 on ship 9. We plan to drive to GL from TX so I am anxiously awaiting the final grad details. I haven't received a phone call yet so I have been rushing home from work and checking the answering machine. I've even told my mother to watch her phone carefully just in case the phone company hasn't removed the collect call block. In the meantime I have sent him a calling card to use. I hope he gets it before he gets a chance to make a phone call. That way he can call home.

Hey there,

DJ arrived on the 11th and he is in Div. 921. I did not realize that was Good Friday either. I guess I need to start checking into Plane tickets and Hotel reservations. I got my box on Tuesday also, dirty clothes and all. Lots and Lots of paperwork and his cell phone. Hope to see you all at PIR!!!!!! I KNOW I CANT WAIT TO SEE DJ IN HIS HAVY UNIFORM!!!! I will be crying.

My son arrived at GL on 2/11 and is in Division 150 John F. Kennedy, scheduled to PIR or 4/10/09. (I think John F. Kennedy is Ship 9). As far as plane reservations, my experience is that American gets cranky (and expensive) about changing your reservations. On the other hand, Southwest is great! However, Southwest flies only into Chicago Midway. I think O'Hare is closer to GL.

Being Easter weekend might make our tickets a little higher unless we can get them pretty early. Guess we'll have to play it by ear/fly by the seat of our pants, etc. But we can do it! After all, we're Navy moms! Navy moms with LOTS of good support.

Martha your son and my husband are in the same division. I wonder if they know each other? I'll have to ask him. What's your son's name?

Martha,
My daughter arrived in GL on the same date and is in DIV 156, scheduled for PIR on 4/10/09. Question: Have you received a phone call yet?!!! Lexi has sent letters and told me to calm down. She said she hasn't done anything wrong, they just haven't gotten any phone privileges yet. Tomorrow is 5 weeks! It seems nuts not to have gotten one call since that 30 second, "Mom, I've arrived & can't call you for 1 month" call. Has your son called? Katie

I am glad that we only live a 6 or 7 hour drive away and don't have to have airline tickets. It seems that so many end up with a different PIR date than the original one I would hate to have to buy plane tickets in advance. Also with the hotel because of the Grad and Go leaving the same day as PIR and not know if you should plan to be near Great Lakes longer to be with your sailor.

My son Matt is on ship 9, Division 154. Arrived in GL on 2/17. Got a call from him today and he is well and is section leader. PIR is Easter wkend. so far. We are from Chgo originally and have lots of relatives there, but will be staying at a hotel nearby to get there early Good Friday morning and not have to fight holiday wkend traffic which I know can be crazy in Chgo area. Any other moms whose son is in Div. 154?
