Just thought I'd let you know that close to the La Quinta and the other hotels right there in Oceanside, there's a Joe's Crab Shak and Denny's. A decent gas station next to Denny's and I think it was a Coco's just down the street. My daughter and I didn't drive around too much in the town right there as we got there pretty late the night before grad at CP. Weird too. The main gate we went in they had visitors directed to go through check point on the right side of the road but once we were past that we had to work our way over to the left to turn at traffic light and head over to grad area. But everyone just worked it out and on we went.

Just joined this group because son will be arriving at Camp Pendleton on Friday. I was wondering what the training is like. Will anyone's sailor be headed to Japan after the FMTB?

Tamie!!! Good to hear about Michael. Is he at 29 Palms? I'm glad to hear he'll be home for Christmas. Morgan's first at not being home. Harder on me than him! I didn't know there was a Marine base in Japan. Morgan's in Camp Pendleton on the San Clemete side. He found an apt, so will be moving middle of this month. Silly guy, we have all his stuff from when he lived in Seattle, but he won't let us know what to send him for the apt. What an expensive place to live.

Gloria, Checked on them...Chris said that Nick's girlfriend stayed in one but they weren't very clean. Also smelled a little musty and with asthma it wouldn't be a good idea...nice that Chris was thinking of me anyway...plus my husband told me that we are on vacation...we aren't cooking! Nice that he thought of me too! (Now if I would think of myself, I'd have it all!) I got the Laquinta for $69 a night and it has a full kitchen as well. Thanks for thinking of me though. We are actaully staying all 9 nights with LaQuinta between Tucson and Oceanside. Hey, I have to make contact with your son as we would like to meet him and take him for dinner. Anyone else have someone at Camp Pendleton that I can meet?

Ruth - way I feel is who cares - you are there that is all that counts!!!!!! I think LaQuinta's have a good rep - price is good. Did you ever check out the cabins on the water? I think ?? they were like $85 or something like that - and you can cook - it has a kitchen. I think I do have the info - but your son might have to make the reservation. Anywho who will be there - cannot believe it is almost time!!!!!! I am getting so psyched for you.

Gloria, we are staying at a LaQuinta-Oceanside...made reservations tonight. $69 a night, King Executive Suite. Hotel is only 4 years old, 5 min away from gate. It's not on the ocean but for the price, I'll live with it. (means I can shop more I guess!)

Ruth - wish I were going there - but hopefully my son is coming home then. You will have to give me the lowdown on where you stay.

Hey, are there any other Moms that have a Corpsman graduating from FMTB on December 17th in San Diego? Please let me know so maybe we can all get together the night before...only 19 days until I'm on "vacation" in San Diego...

The military get in free when they tour the Midway in San Diego also. The military get in free or at least get a discount into most places. Just let your sailors know to ask when they purchase tickets

Hey, my son found out that in SanDiego that military personnel get in free at Sea World and the SanDiego Zoo. He had a lot of fun. Just wanted everyone to know so they can pass it on to their Sailor at Camp Pendleton.
