Ruth VH ~ thanks for offering. Tyler told me a lot of moms and grandma's came up to him and asked if he had family there? When he said; "No" everyone of them gave him a hug...a big thank you goes out to those ladies. So glad you were able to attend your sons graduation.

Cindy, how I wish I had known your son was returning. We were there that same morning for FMTB graduation for our son Chris. I would have loved to have represented you! Congrats on a job well done Mom, you deserve a medal for your time as well.

Brenda ~ my son won't be home til after Christmas, I think he is flying home on Jan 4th for a couple of weeks and will drive his car back to CP. So we will be having our Christmas sometime in January. He is with 1/5 and will be spending Christmas with a bunch of guys out there that have their own apartments, so I am thankful he won't be alone.

Hi everyone just joined your group. My son just returned yesturday back to CP from Afg with his boots firmly planted back on US soil. What a huge relief when I got his phone call yesturday and he said; "Mom were back in the states"!
I believe there was lots of celebrating last night as I haven't heard from him yet today. So if there are any moms out there, give my son a big hug from me. Just look for "Sturgul" he will be hanging with the other corpsman.

I'll ask again, is there any other Moms that have sons/daughters graduating CP FMTB Dec 17th? My son is and would love to get together with you. Will keep checking here.

Nikki B, tell Tom that it is so windy at CP that the last 3 day hike has been postponed and might be cancelled completely. Chris is bummed but he'll let us know if he ends up going or not. I'm sure Tom would've been really happy to not have had it, but CHris is weird! ! ! Oh well, as long as they don't do it next week when we are there to see everyone. That would be my luck! Have a great day everyone. Need to pack, leave in 4 days.

I just reread how I wrote that. I do want to say that seeing our guys even in cammies in a group like that is still prideful. While it's different it's also very inspriing and you could feel the pride of the new grads. They are proud and rightfully so of what they just went through and accomplished. They are on their way to what they want to do in the service. They've made it through a lot. All the recruits at PIR have made it through basic and are looking forward to the next schooling. They've only just begun. Maybe that's why it's hard to compare. Plus I don't come from a military background. All so new to me. sorry.so many things I want toa sk all of you that do come from military families but I dont' even know where to begin.

Cindy Corpsman Mom - FMTB 10/9 It definitely had a different feel than the PIR. I agree it was a really good ceremony with such a pride in it. But way different than the PIR. So incredible to see all those recruits coming by in those Navy uniforms. My son at 6 ft was easy to spot in the PIR all the other ones around him were a whole head shorter!! But the FMTB they were all so close in height, I truly had trouble finding my son in the group! Would have been helpful too if my son had told me their groups come in in alpha order. I wasn't sure which group was his. I felt like such a bad mom not being able to find my own son!! Loved the base area and watching the DVD.

Hi Chon ~ Welcome to the CP group! I believe there is a Japan group here on N4M's. There is a corpsman from my son's group that graduated FMTB last May stationed in Japan. I will have to go back and find her.

Those of you who had someone graduate, what did you think of FMTB grad compared to PIR? I know I prefered to see Morgan in his Sailor's uniform rather than the cammies. It was still a really good ceremony. Seating was the big issue for us.

Chon's mom- they will have 5 tests to pass, and these they have to get at least 80% to pass. They will do several trips to the field and a lot of PT. Some chiefs can be really tough on them with the PT, just depends on who they get. He will be able to contact you like A school but don't be surprised if he doesn't. They keep these guys going from sun up til late at night. There were times my husband didn't get back to his rack until 8 or 9pm at night during the week. They will have to earn liberty all over again but it comes fast and then he will be able to go off base on the weekends.
Tell him not to worry, he made it through boot camp so he can definitely make it through this! :)
