LOL, what a question Karen! Well, he was born in Austin and grew up with a 3rd generation longhorn mom. So, I'd like to say UT ... but he is a University of Houston alumn.

Carol, Which team is your sailor's southwest conference favorite? Yeh I know it is gone and it will never replaced. Big 8 is OK, but it will never have the "neighborhood" rivalry :-)

I'll be arriving at Houston intercontinential Saturday afternoon and leave Tuesday morning. Wish I could have time to meet you.

Well, I got an e-mail from my son today. He's on the Reagan ... but I thought y'all would appreciate this part of his message (especially if your sailors are sports fans) ...

I'm recording college football games for some ships in
our strike group that don't have the AFN luxuries we do. I'm going to
convert it to dvd and we're going to send it to them. Certainly not
mission essential but it still makes me feel good that I'm directly
helping fellow sailors see there first few football games of the year.

Thanks Karen!! The discussions did not set up exactly as I had planned...UGH! I was trying to get the ship's photos and crest posted with the discussion info, but it just wouldn't work for me. I didn't post one for the Reagan yet because their website is down right now, so I will do that one later. And, I will also add info to some of the them when I have the chance.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your stepfather. On a happy note though, you will get to see Dave soon. I hope you have a wonderful visit with him before he heads to Japan. I will pray that you are able to make that trip to Ft. Riley.

Paige--great job!! Thanks for the new info. I had set up the discussions to unlimited number of discussions.

I guess things happen the way they supposed to. My stepfather's memorial service is Monday, September 14th. Dave is being flown to SD on the 11th for his orders and will fly to join the family before he reports for duty in Yokosuka. The only one of my kids that won't attend is my soldier son--he is training others to go to Afganistan and he may have to go with them. I am hoping to get to Ft Riley, KS before he leaves.

Karen Price - My daughter is still in Yokosuka for a little while longer, and is an IT2. She will be doing the same on the Decatur, as far as I have being told. She is really excited about this tour and I've learned a great deal about the group from the discussion area.
