Hey Mary, I agree, Smith is THE BEST. His MOS should be "Poster Child for Recruiters". I saw the pics from the packing party & they are priceless. I can't wait to get in on that. How's everything else going?

Mary, I am doig fine... taking it day by day, its all we can do. I will be doing totally AWESOME when I hear from him, but giving what I know... it probably won't be for a while. You are a great lady, thanks for being there (((((HUGS)))))

Hello to everyone and a big thank you for all the support while I go thru the Boot Camp ordeal. What a great group to be a part of. I live in Orange City which is in West Volusia county. Does anyone else live close by? I am doing better today than yesterday. It helps when I write Justin a letter every day. I have mostly just been telling him what is going on around the house. I figure that will kind of give him a connection with home. I have received alot of advice from this site. I have known more information than my son ever did about what to expect in boot camp. So keep up the good work and I look forward to some good packing parties or meet & greets in the future so I can meet all of you.
Thanks again, Laura

Hey Samantha, I couldn't agree with you more about "OUR" recruiter. He has become family to us now. Smitty is the best I think the Navy has to offer as far as recruitment. He actually came out for our last packing party AND mailed some boxes for us too - how awesome was that?

jrsmom, We are all here for you, I know how hard it is to let them go, I cried for days when my son left in 2008 for boot camp, but I knew it was the best thing for him to do.
There is a site you can go to type in Boot Camp Great Lakes, Illinois and hit search, go down to Boot Camp for Navy. It gives you each week what they will have to do in boot camp. I hope this helps you feel closer to your son, and again we are all here for you.

To jsrmom, I am praying for you and know your pain. It is an emotinal roller coaster ride for us mama's but it does get better. Get connected with some other moms who have recruits going thru BC, it really helps to build a relationship with them and if you are luckey you will get to met at PIR and make some lifetime friends/sisters. Let me look thru my paperwork, have something stuck somewhere, not a daily schedule but will tell you after the initia processing days what they are doing from week to week. From gas chamber to fire fighting. I will look for it unless another mama has something handy and can post it before I get back to you. Be strong and know we are here for you :D

Lynne, how are you doing? Feeling better? I haven't heard from you in a couple of days. I hope all is well. Let's get out butts in gear for this photo shot and show our troops just how much The Central Florida Moms Love and Support them.

jsrmom - there is nothing that I am aware of about a schedule - how about it Navy Moms - any other advice. My son graduated a few months ago and all I can say - we understand how you feel and we are ALL here for you. We are seasoned troopers. Welcome to the Central Florida Group - I don't recognize your name - are you new here? Anyway, we are all here for support. Write us anytime and please join in on the fun - it will make the time go faster and believe me will help ease the pain.
About your son - do you want to talk or is the time still too new for you? He will have it tough for he first couple of days for in processing. This is where they get their uniforms, haircuts, ID cards, all government issue material that he will need. I know you have heard about the box. Well, I slept with my son's dirty stinky clothes for a couple of days - all in his bed too! Time will pass and it will get easier. The first letter that I wrote was a generic one with little boxes for him to check off to all my questions. Actually he said him and the guys got a kick out of it. I should have sent more copies for his buddies - just wasn't thinking. I typed my son's letters - I felt I could write more - I definitely type faster than I write. Besides, the tears don't mess up the ink on a keyboard (LOL) Are you going to his PIR (graduation)? Well, you joined the Central Florida Group - what part of Florida are you in? or did you just like us? LOL Either way, we will support you in anyway we can. We are a GREAT bunch of moms who all after one thing - showing OUR Sailors OUR Love! Keep in touch and let us help you. Nobody understands what you are going through better than another Navy Mom. God Bless, Mary

To jsrmom, I know how much it can drive you nuts not knowing what he is doing, if he is eating well, sleeping enough, missing home, etc... I will tell you what my son's recruiter told me a year ago when my Richard left, "he's in good hands and he is keeping so busy that he doesn't have too much time to be missing home. He is eating, sleeping, exercising and training; you will here from him soon". It seems like forever before you get that first letter, but it's worth it. Definitely communicate with your recruiter, my son's recruiter was always there for me & still is, we just had lunch together yesterday. As far as a schedule to be found, I don't know of any. The time will pass slowly til graduation, but what a celebration that day will be for you & your son! Stay Strong & Keep Busy, Regards-Sam
