OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Chipmunk, I love NCIS & have been watching it from the start.  My husband & I were away for the week & missed this espisode since we did not tape it.  When we got home & I read your post, we watched it “On Demand” tonight and throughly enjoyed it.  Thank you for sharing this info about this particular  espisode.

For any of you that don't watch NCIS (the original show), I would recommend you watching this weeks 12/12/17 episode. It is a good reminder of family and struggles of kids with parents and parents with kids, but also a tribute to our service men and women. It had some touching moments of respect and even sometimes dishonor, but well done. I appreciated it more, now that my son is serving. - We just pull it up on the internet on CBS without their access.

And thank you, to all the moms and families who are doing without their sailors, this holiday, so that some of us can have ours nearby. Our turn is coming.

Chipmunk,

I'm so glad that supervisor was able to locate the lost Keel and have the contractor send it directly to you!  Blessings of all sizes are certainly appreciated!!

Thank you for the recent scriptures - I need to remind myself of those, especially with some current issues in life. - On a very positive note, I have a praise report. For those who responded to my plea for information on when their KEEL arrived for PIR 8/25/17 - I now have my son's in hand!!!

This was not without prayer for the lost to be found and wisdom to know how to deal with the situation. After my first phone call before Thanksgiving when I was told to wait, I was just frustrated and didn't have time to deal with it, nor able to  call the NEX except when I knew they would be extremely  busy. I placed a call again this Monday, and asked for a supervisor. I was directed to a lady over the KEELS (cruisebooks). We discussed the situation and she took my number. I was surprised, when she called me back within  1-2 hours to let me know she had spoken to the contractor. They had rec'd back a KEEL that was undeliverable. (BTW - the NEX also requests at least one copy of each PIR, for this exact reason and had never received theirs either.) The NEX lady verified that the address they had was correct, and said she would email it to the contractor, located in a different state. I kept expecting it to arrive by US Postal Service, and so it was a very pleasant surprise to find it in the middle of a stack of boxes left by UPS on my front porch while I was at church Wed night. (so in 2 days!! I finally had my son's KEEL.) - Very much an answer to prayer, for me at least, and a glimmer of hope in the midst of some other trials going on in our life.

Thanks to the diligence of the correct supervisor in the NEX and direct shipment from the contractor, I now have another present to put under the tree for my sailor!! - even though he paid for it. :-)

It was late last night and I only glanced through it enough to make sure it was the correct PIR and to find his picture in his Div. He was willing to never have it, but I am so glad it managed to be found.

Thanks to everyone who responded and let me know when and how your KEEL arrived, so I could pursue this matter.  And the encouragement to trust. So many times, I have had a part to play along with my prayer requests, but I recognize, more and more, that I need wisdom, and patience to know what my part it, because sometimes other things have to come into play before the answer can finally be received.

Prayers for peace, grace and wisdom for all of you and your families this holiday season. For those with sailors coming home, prayers for safe travel for them. For those whose sailors are not able to be with you, prayers for their safety as well and the possibility of at least some face time with them.

Navy Hugs to all!!

Navymom2-knowing that He is with us no matter what carries me through even the darkest of days.

Thank you Raequel and CatMom 509-I needed to hear both of those.
