Sandy,

Congrats! My son is at Sub school and will start on Monday. He arrived the 25th of March. His name is Andrew. Hope all goes well for both of them.

Kerry,
I stayed at Crosslands and I really would not recommend it. It was only a little less expensive than other hotels and I wish I would have just spent the extra money. Yes there were other families from Colorado, however, I did not get together with them. The only way I knew they were there was when each state is called out you can holler and I was not alone. But we never caught up with each other. When they call "Liberty Call, Liberty Call" it is mayhem trying to get to your child. You are lucky if they see you in the crowd, but it was all I could do but just love on my son and he was looking for some of his buddies so I really did not see too many other parents, I was a little focused..... As far as where he is: he left for Groton, CT on Wednesday. He called me thursday night and gave me his new cell number. I had not spoke to him since I left and it was good to talk with him. He said this is "Sub" school, then he has liberty and when he goes back to CT, that's when A school will start. I'm a little confused, but what is new?
Becky,
I like your idea of googling that information. I just have not had a chance yet. I spoke with his recruiter the other day but not about this and she was on her way to school for a few days and I did not want to bother her. I can text her a message though!
Thank you all for so much support!
I want to hear from everybody how PIR goes!

Sandy ... I wonder if your recruiter would have a press release you could use. I'd think they'd do that kind of thing pretty regularly. Or maybe google "Navy press release" or something.

Fingers crossed, Kerry!

I just got my 4th letter from my son and it looks like he'll do battle stations April 14. Then his PIR is the 24th. Seems like it's getting close to the time I can breathe again!

Hello Everyone,
Michael 's PIR was last Friday! I did go and what an unforgettable experience! There were several of us at Flanagans for the Meet and Greet when 3 of us got a call at the same time, "Mom, I'm a Sailor!". Not a dry eye at the table. I just can't stop looking at his pictures. Hope you all are doing well and I am sorry I could not make the Get Together. I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer for me. I have Michael's official picture and I want to put it in our local paper, but I do not know exactly what to say. Does anybody have any suggestions or someplace to send me so I can do this right? Thank you in advance. Take care everyone,
Sandy

Hi Thelma, and welcome to the group! Sounds like exciting times for your daughter ahead! And it is never enough time to visit with our sailors when they're home, is it? Enjoy the time you have, though. Only a few more days to wait! :-D

Hi All. . . . I am still very new to this site. I am very glad to be able to read all this great information. My daughter is at Officer Training in Rhode Island. She will be back on 4/11 and will leave for Camp Pendleton on the 15th. Not much time to visit with her. I am glad for what ever time I can get.
Have a Great Day

Hi Karen!

You can tell I am so new to all this navy stuff! I'll learn all this sooner or later! Holidays have been hard for us - my son and I are very close. It is hard to imagine what the next six years will bring - but I am still so very proud of him and all the men and women who are serving this great country of ours!

Hi Gail...My daughter has been in the Navy a little over 3 years. She will be arriving in Norfolk, VA after Easter. Due to security reasons, I can't say the date! My husband, son and I plan to be there and wouldn't miss her HOMECOMING for anything! Best Wishes to your son and thank him for serving our country! Please don't hesitate to ask questions or express your thoughts -- That's what we are here for!
