7ish - Just curious if she qualified as a class 2 swimmer in bootcamp.  Class 2 swim is a minimum requirement for CTI's to enter into the Naval Aircrewman Candidate School (NACS).

Dee - I beleive all CTI's fly through Denver on their way to Monterey.  Did your son?

What is a CAC card reader?

Comment by 7isheaven on February 7, 2011 at 9:22pm

Dee: okay, thanks. You wouldn't happen to know if Monterey is Grad and Go do you??  Dying to make reservations.

I just was wondering what A school [and I assume there's B and C school? meant lol

I'm not sure what the difference or requirements are for the different schools. Before my dd left, I was under the impression she'll go straight to DLI? Is there some other training first? [after BC?]

Dee - Make dang sure he understand the home owners fees.  Most totally forget about that.

camenae - I find that a strange comment.  We have about 150 CTR'a where I work, most come straight from "A" school.  CTR's can go to any of the NIOC places, which are the blue stars below... You should buy him a CAC card reader and he can find out what billets (jobs) are opened and can write his dream sheet around those billets that are open.

my son is at BC with PIR on 3/4/11. He also thinks he will leave GL for P'cola on Saturday in the early am.

My son is in BC now and is in Ship 12, Div 097. He has not heard that he is grad and go. He thinks he's going to Pensacola.

HI, I'm new here as my dd is in BC and will then go to DLI in CA, Anyone else have someone currently in bootcamp?  Know yet if they are grad and go? [PIR 3/18/11]

Question: My husband spoke to someone at boot camp a couple days ago who said that the majority of CTRs go to Hawaii after A school. Is this true?
Comment by Craig on February 7, 2011 at 11:49am

Most place cost about $600K.  He will not qualify for the payment.  He needs to rent with other sailors so they can get a really cool place in Waikki.

Alot of sailors are getting themselves in trouble there.  The Navy pays them really good (about $2K), and if they share the condo (about $1000 each), then they have lots of spending money ($1000 leftover), which they usually buy nice cars with.  What they don't realise is that BAH ends once they transfer.  So here they are trying to make payment on a car without the BAH money they use to get.  Then they get them repo'd.  Which is not a good thing from a CT....
