Any DC moms out there with sailors on the GW?

Trying to find the best way to connect with DC moms on the USS George Washington.

I'm not in DC, but in NY. My son is on the USS George Washington. Glad to finally connect with someone who has a child on the this ship.

Hi! Glad you are here...I am from Texas (Houston) too! I live near San Diego now. My son is DC on the Reagan...they are only half way through their deployment. He is 20...and a half. LOL

We have followed the GW ever since we heard about that fire they had several years ago...WOW, what an ordeal.

Back then when he told me he wants to be a fireman on a ship, I said to my son, "You want to run toward the fire?" He said, "Mom, someone has to save the ship!" :)

Any news from your son since they have left Singapore and supposed to be docking near Philippines? I haven't been able to find out much about the storms that have hit there, if they (GW) might have been in the course of the storm. Wonder if the base was hit since Tokyo was. I worry and pray they are all safe and sound.

The last time my son (who is on the Reagan) was in a storm...remember they are on a carrier so its not as bad as it could be...but, he said that half of the people were sleeping like babies and the other half were seasick or barfing...but, the waves were coming up over the deck! I am sure they are fine!

Got an email this morning and they are fine, in fact he said they haven't had any storms and he hadn't even heard anything about storms, and the weather is great! The Philippines were an eye opener-they saw a whole different life style in that port than in Australia or Singapore. What an education.
