Josh came home on the 19th and went back New Year's Day. The airfare was over $200 cheaper than having him go back by midnight on Jan 4. As nice as it was having him home, I didn't see him that much, but more than I expected. It wasn't 24 hours and his bedroom looked like it did for the last 10 years. I asked him if that's the way his barracks looks. "Of course not" he says. I just rolled my eyes and walked out. He has no idea when his A school starts. He just graduated yesterday from some schooling called SCC. I guess all sailors go thru that before A school. Seems he'll be at GL for some time. Probably won't escape the snow till some time in the spring. Back to N4M!!!

Hello! We had a great holiday, Ryan did come home via my car and i took him back this past Sunday. boy, was that hard.. Harder than leaving him in Great Lakes. Hope everyone got to visit with their child.

Howdy everyone... So how was your holidays? Mine was great, my son surprised me and actually came home on my birthday 12/19, he swore he would never miss my 50th and he didnt, I just cried when he came in my room that morning.

my son will is flying from ct to mobile al and it was only 455 round trip. Gosh, 700 is steep.

Wow Tammy, and I thought it was a lot to pay $375 for Josh to fly from Chicago back to Las Vegas! It cost more than it did for us to fly there ($290), but I guess with the airlines cutting back on flights and the cost of fuel, which is now actually LOWER, plus making arrangements so late, it was bound to be higher. Glad we all get to see our kiddos over the holidays. It's sure been a bumpy ride this fall! Hopefully we'll all check back on here after the holidays and see how we all fared.

Hey guys! Well, Ryan is coming home on 12/20. I am driving down to Pensacola to pick him up and will be home until 1/3 which either i or his dad will take him back. a plane ticket was going to cost us almost $700, cheaper for me to drive since it is only about 6 hours. Hope everyone enjoys their visits home and has a great Christmas. ttyl

Will is in CT. But Your son should check, if they offer rides back. I know Will just said at first they are busing them to airport, I told him to check to see if they will come pick them up. Sure enough, they do.. And at a good price.

Which base is that...GL? I guess if he gets stuck, that'd be a nice last resort. Hope he gets a number to call just in case. I've been checking out the Metra Rail and buses to the rail station, but I think Josh will take the easy way out and just pay the $25 if he had that option.

Will has to be back on the 26th :( , but we will enjoy our days with him.
As far as getting back to base from airport , he found out the base will send shuttle for 25 even at midnight.
