Darlene...I'm so glad that you left the comment about the "actual corpsman classes beginning on the 16th"....I was under the impression that they began the 9th. I have no idea why, perhaps I misunderstood him. Andrew is doing well, he will be coming home the weekend of the 4th. As we live in Indiana it's only a 4 hour drive and he has the weekend off. He is looking so forward to doing that. His dad is going to go up and get him and take him back up. I am looking forward to seeing him as well as my family. I appreciate all of you and continue to keep you and your sailors in my prayers. Jeanne C.
p.s. Andrew's last name is Brown. I don't think i've ever stated that. I was remarried 7 years ago =)

Hi Toni,
Good to hear from you again. Ryan is in corpsman A school, just
down the street from where his bootcamp was. Carol & Jeanne's
sons are there also. Ryan didn't get in the same building as their
sons, but he hangs out with them all the time. He likes it okay, their actual corpsman classes didn't start till today 6-16, Im anxious to hear from him tonight, he calls every day. We are
planning to go up & see him this weekend. He still gets pretty
homesick, so he tries to stay busy so he doesn't think about it
too much. I'm glad Larry likes his Master at Arms. That sure
makes it easier on mom. Hope everything goes well for him & your family. God Bless

Darlene, I was so glad to hear from you! Yes, Colin told me about Ryan not being happy about his barracks assignment, but am sure he will or has made some friends soon, and apparently he can hang out w/Colin in his most of the time. I am really frustrated about this mail situation. I can see that Colin's box was signed for on Saturday, but still have not heard from him so I know he has not been able to pick it up yet. Grrr. You don't want to know how much we spent to ship that thing Express. Live and learn. I am glad to hear they've promised to stick together and help each other. That is so great. :-) And so is this site! It's so cool to be able to get on here and sort of be able to fill in the gaps of information with each other! The boys probably hate it, but oh well! LOL Oh, and "Cole" is short for Colin's last name, which is what they all go by. Colin didn't know Ryan's first name until I told him what it was! LOL I'll keep you posted on anything else I hear that's important!

Take care, everyone!

Hi Carol & Jeanne,
We had a great time with Ryan PIR weekend. We had to leave
Sunday & I think it was harder then than when he first left for
bootcamp. I sure hope that part gets easier. He was depressed
when he called us Monday (Memorial Day), he said that he was
in a different building than all his other div. buddies, that he ate
all his meals by himself & just felt over whelmed by all the new
rules they were throwing at them. But, he has called several times
since then & sounds much better. He said he hangs out with
Colin (Ryan calls him Cole) a lot & that they promised to stick
together & help each other study. I mailed his cell phone priority
mail too, but he hasn't gotten it yet. He says that the mail office
is closed before they get off duty & doesn't know when he is
going to able to get there to get his mail. He said a lot of the guys
were mad because they paid extra to get things shipped to them
& now they don't have time to get to the post office to pick it up.
Good to hear from you all again. God Bless!

Hi Carol,

We sent Andrew his things as well plus his civilian clothes, I too, am anxious to see if they fit him. Between being sick and all the work out, he lost about 20 pounds. He developed muscle, but still looks awfully thin to me....ugh....once a mom =) That's funny about your son filming you! Kids are great! Speaking of which, my other son called me night before last to tell me that he has enlisted in the Air Force......when it rains it pours! However, their boot camp is only 6 weeks long and they will have liberty at some points during their training. He will be at LackLand Air Force base is San Antonio, TX. Looks like Mom's going on vacation to somewhere I've never been before later this summer =) We are even planning a day to go to Mexico! I am now looking for a site which provides meds for mom's of multiple kids in the service =) This son has always been a rebel. I am the grand daughter, daughter, ex wife of and mom of a sailor.....so it figures he'd join the Air Force. So off I go, into the deep blue yonder. ha! I've always heard that the Lord will never give me more than I can handle....sometimes I believe he's over-estimating me =) Take care and let me hear how things are going. Oh, my husband now was in the Air Force stationed at Lackland, so he is very excited about Joshua joining the Air Force....ugh......guys.

Jeanne, I SO know what you mean about losing it when they all sang Anchors Aweigh! I was right there with ya! My younger son came with me and instead of video'ing them singing he decided it would be funny to video mom losing it. LOL Twerp. Glad the photographer was so accommodating to your situation. It's just a shame that your ex had to be that way in the first place. Grrr. Glad Andrew is feeling better now. Colin said they all get sick because of the peanut butter shots. They get them week 2 AND week 5. I didn't know they got a second one. Yuck. Yes, we did go to the smaller NX and got t-shirts and bumper stickers for everyone in the family. LOL Typical tourists, huh? Colin called me with a list of things to send the other day, so I boxed everything up and shipped it Friday morning, Express Mail, because Colin was under the impression they would get mail on Saturdays. He was wrong, and MAN is that an expensive lesson. I could have shipped it Priority for less than half of what I spent on Express and he still would have gotten it by Monday. Bummer. He was so looking forward to having his cell phone, IPod and laptop for the weekend. :-( Live and learn. He's got duty all weekend, but still has lots of spare time and can't leave the base, so having his stuff would have been nice...Sent some civvies too, and will be anxious to hear if they still fit. He's bulked up to the tune of about 20 pounds, and he still looks like a stick insect. LOL Keep me posted and take care!

Hi Carol~All...I thought graduation was awesome! When they sang Anchors Aweigh I thought I'd lose it. Andrew has moved and is awaiting the start of his school so they are keeping him busy with odds and ends things right now. He anxious for it to begin. He wanted his civilian clothes sent to him (I don't think they'll fit, he's lost a lot of weight)...a few things anyway. He, too has called several times a day. As I lived up there when my ex husband was an instructor it was a trip down memory lane for me. So much has changed, but a lot is the same. We got there early Thursday and drove around to re-familiarize myself with the area. I didn't have a bit of trouble getting into the graduation...but as soon as I hugged Andrew I knew he had a fever...he'd been sick for a while but didn't want to go to sick call for fear of having his graduation pushed back. I had taken up medicines with me and so we pretty much spent the weekend talking and doctoring and letting him rest. He is fine now....just needed some TLC =) Also, did you go to the Navy Exchange? I had forgotten how good the prices are there. As my dad was also Navy I was able to buy him some nice things for Father's Day for a little bit of money...I love the exchange! On a downer note...my ex took the pictures of Andrew and won't let me have any. I sent an email to the command and they emailed me back the phone number to the photo shop and I called them today and explained my situation. They were so nice and said it would be no problem for me to order another packet of photos! Awesome! Luckily, Andrew was right in front carrying a the companies colors, so I was able to get some good photos of him during PIR. All in all.....I'd say it was very inspiring and a great weekend!

HI all! How was everyone's PIR weekend? It was a wonderful ceremony and I loved seeing it and Colin, but honestly the rest of the weekend was very stressful. He was very uncomfortable and nervous his first weekend of liberty, and driving around in a strange place stressed me out, so what a fun pair we were! He's moved into his barracks though and has called me almost daily and sounds just great now. He is liking life a lot more! I am sure they all are. I shipped his box to him today and overnighted it at his request and expense! He'll be pretty well set now. Darlene, Colin said your son isn't too thrilled with his barracks assignment, so he's hanging out with Colin "at his place" apparently. They've also got duty together this weekend, so I guess if you have to have duty it's a good thing to have it with a buddy! Nice that they've bonded like they have. Hope to hear from you all!
