I live in the military housing, wadsworth shores and I LOVEEE it here. Before I moved down we looked at apartments online a lot of them looked really nice online but once we got here we went and checked a few out and they were all pretty awful, I highly recommend the military housing.

my husband just recieved orders to NAS Oceana, and i am in the process of house/apartment hunting. This moving thing is very new to me and i'm having a hard time finding a decent place. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the area, where to look, where to avoid, etc...

My husband's orders popped up this morning, but I have NO CLUE how to read what they say?!?! What dates am I looking for??! How do I get any info for it when there are like 12 differents NLT dates?!

I have a question. The lady at FFSC told us for our move, we get reimbursed for everything, like the gas, lodging and food. But i need to know if we get any of that money for the move beforehand. Otherwise we cant afford the move, we only have on paycheck between now & then and it wont coven even a third of the cost of gas/food/lodging just for the trip. Not to mention the cost of staying at the Navy Lodge once we get there. I am so overwhelmed!!

hello!! my sailor is getting ready to grad A-school in fl on the 30th and the next stop is oceana. i had a few questions to try to help ease both of our minds. Does anyone know where or when VFA-11 will be going and if they are getting deployed soon. we are just trying to get a time table together on if she has time after her 10 day homecoming to get an apt. or will she be sent on deployment right away. any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks

Well the only thing I pretty much know about the whole detachment (DET) is that they either fly to a place or on sea with their squadron, they basically do the same job, they're just practicing with other squadrons as well. My husband has one next month to Florida, and they have them like once a month or every month. They're getting ready for their first deployment on the Bush for next year.

Hi Anne, my husband is stationed in Oceana as well, he is also in a Squadron, he is going to Key West July 7th maybe that's when your son is going, but DET is a detachment. If thta is where he is going soon then they will probably be gone for just a couple weeks.
