Ezra wont be able to come home for the holidays either.....he isnt sure when he will be getting a leave. I am planning on sending a care package for Christmas though.

Our sailor is planning on coming home right after the holidays - she is getting married in January and has already submitted her leave chit and is just waiting final approval. Our sailor started feeling out the leave situation the day she got to Sasebo in January 2008 and saved all of her leave.

So I wa just thinking about this and wondered if anyone know this: How do we get ahold of our sailors if there is an emergency at home? Ours rarely checks his e-mail and my husband and I were thinking it might be a good idea to know this before the need arises.

We have heard our sailor is coming home Although she has not gotten the final approval yet. This is our first Christmas in the fleet so I am unable to comment on any of the planned holiday events.

We are pretty sure our sailor is staying. We haven't heard that he is coming home at all.

How many of your sailors are staying in Sasebo for the holidays? I don't know what the ship does for the holidays and am trying to get a feel for how many stay rather than go home.

Okay who has Christmas gift ideas for our sailors? Does anyone know what they do on the ship to celebrate? I need to start shopping and am trying to figure all this out.

You can view various pictures of the USS Harpers Ferry and sailors aboard by visiting the website: "Eye on the Fleet". There is a search box on the right side of the page. Type in "Harpers Ferry" or LSD 49, you can see current pictures of the ship,etc. They even provide a description of the picture. I only hear spiratically from my son so it's nice to be able to see pictures and see where they've been. Some pictures are recent too. I hope this helps some that don't get regular emails from your loved ones.
