Patrick arrived at Little Creek last night. I haven't heard from him yet. I'm sure he's processing. His phone called me twice from his pocket so I did hear his voice for a half a second. He already knows he'll be in the barracks.

Hi Lynne. My son is currently working in the Boone Clinic on base. He is in the primary care unit and loves it. I have been to the base on several ocassions. It is a big base. We usually stay in the Navy Lodge right on base. The rooms are nice and cheap!. It takes us about 6 hours to get there from New York (Long Island). My son will usually drive home on long holiday weekends so I get to see him alot (which is the best part). His orders are good through August, 2010 and who knows where he will go after that.

Well Lynne it's good to have you as a part of this group it sound like you could be a great knowledge base for us. I belong to the ombudsman group as well, but I like to get as much information as I can from every source that I can. I firmly believe in trying to get all the information. Oh, if my son got the chance to go to Italy I would be too happy. That a place that I would like to go.

Laura welcome to the group. I haven't been to Little Creek yet, but I plan to go this month, my son will be coming back from a seven month deployment. From what I've heard it sounds like a nice place. Not to big or small. I hope your son likes it there.

Martha,
He is all settled in. He is putting in for some leave to come for a visit soon. He has spoke to the Ombudsman - he was going to go to Italy for 6 months. They sent a reservist instead. I was happy he was not! April he will be going to Gulf-Port for some training. I haven't planned a trip yet, or been to Little Creek. Nicholas came home for Christmas. We are planning a beach trip in the summer - they have some little cabins in Panama City that Militrary members can rent - they are very reasonable - and short drive to the beach, there is also a very nice Military own park in Pensacola. I worked for the Navy for many years and was myself an Ombudsman. My best friend retired from the Navy in 06 still works for the Navy - she is bundle of info. Nicholas will find out Monday the dates of his leave. He is driving home
