from what i understand (at least with the ETs) there is a code located in their contract that says when they are eligible for their bonus. some are eligible after A school and some not until they get their orders and finish C school.

Julie- no I wasnt able to take any pictures because it was dark and my phone doesnt have a flash on it =( So i told Mickey that he has to take me back to it during the day so I can take pics, lol

Julie ----- Christmas in Great Lakes, years from now you will be telling your son stories about your time there.

I have heard that you can request your bonus earlier but I believe someone had said if you do they will make you go thru financial counseling class so you know how to manage your money better. Personally I think that is crap based on the pay of our military - especially when they are married with children so hoping that is just another...rumor.

i got my Sailor son Friday at the airport, just in time for him to shovel the 14 inches of snow we got! It's so nice to wake up and have both of my kids asleep in the house! Although it's taking a few days for him to get back on a "normal" schedule. He woke up at 1 Sunday morning and thought that in a couple more hours it will be 4, so everyone will be getting up around the .... NOT!! Funny, what he was craving when he first got home was a grilled cheese sandwich, promptly burned it (too long away from the stove) so I made one for him. We're so stoked to have him home again.

3 more weeks and we'll be out of Great Lakes. Can't believe we've been here so long but I think when the day comes it'll be a little sad.. but I haven't seen my mama in a year so the time home will make up for it! =)

I didnt know they could get it after A school...lol too late for that now! haha

so I got to walk downt the pier tonight and see Mickeys ship for the first time =) I couldnt believe how huge it was!! And they had a contest going on so all the ships were decorated in christmas lights, it was so pretty =) I cant wait to go back during the day and see it then =)

yes, there is an option where they can make a specific request for the bonus after A-school is completed, while they are in c-school. My son just opted to wait until he got to his duty station.

This is a little delay on the bonus question, but Derrick is in C school now and received his bonus about a month ago. He just requested it and they gave it to him.. no harm in asking.

Ian has been entertaining us with his stories and jokes about his time so far with the Navy. He is going to be cooking dinner while he is home. Says he missed not having a stove. He is looking forward to C school and then San Diego. He says he won't get his sign on bonus until after he gets to San Diego. He says that he already knows that he will need to request it several times before he sees it.
