Erin, proud mom of Jordan Comment by Erin, proud mom of Jordan on February 25, 2009 at 11:45pm
Hi everyone...don't know if you remember me, but I'm Jordan's mom and it's good to see some familiar names again! Jordan is in Pensacola and just began his IT A School today. He was really fortunate not to have to be put on hold like so many others. I've sent him 2 packages so far and he seems to be doing really well. So Sorry to hear of Megan's troubles...sure doesn't seem fair to me...I hope that issue can be resolved in her favor. Diane...say hi to Rusty for me...hope he is well...glad you are going for another visit. I added this group to my list, so we can all keep in touch.

So we are fighting it. I spent all of today talking to any Navy person I could find. I found several who HAVE kidney stones and are still in. I also did some research on kidney stones to show that it isn't serious enough to preclude her from service. I sent some letters to congressmen. I am trying to get some doctors to write me a letter stating that kidney stones are NOT a problem. I am also trying to get a letter from a Captain (O-6) stating the need to retain my wife. We will not let this go silently. I have told my wife to request mast and to take it all the way up to the President if need be.

Hello! I am new here and wanted to introduce myself! I am not a Navy Mom, but rather a Navy Wife! My hubby graduated Feb 6. He was in Div 097! He is now at A School in Great Lakes!

Oh Scott.... That is horrible. I just don't understand that at all. I have a son and a daughter that had kidney stones One Time. And they have never had them again. It just doesn't make sense to me. You know, sometimes a discharge can be fought. If she really wants this then maybe you guys can fight it. Being a Marine I'm sure you have heard lots of stories of guys that fought their discharges and won. There have been such cases in the Navy as well. The thing is to find someone to help you fight. There is a NC in one of the groups and I think she might be able to tell me what can be done. Would you mind if I ask her?

they said that it isn't that she isn't medically fit. It is the fact that if she has them now then she is likely to continue to get them and if that happens it is cheaper to just discharger her now than to deal with that in the future! It comes down to them being cheap.

Oh, Scott. I can't believe what I am reading. How can that be? You would think in the time she was in school they would be able to take care of the stones and by the time she was finished, be ready medically to serve. I really don't understand that at all. I would question it. Really look into it. Poor thing. All that for a big, "thanks for playing". I am so sorry.

So the Navy gave Megan the big FU and told her that she is going to be discharged for Kidney Stones. Seriously WTF. They said that she has too many and that they are too small to be treated and that she will not be allowed to even come back in a year. She was told that she can NOT join the Navy at all now. I told her to fight it. She couldn't stop crying the entire phone conversation. To think that she did everything that she had to and now the Navy isn't going to hold up their end and provide her with medical care!
Diane Comment by Diane on February 24, 2009 at 9:00pm
Hi everyone!
Great on the new group!
Scott please keep us posted on Megan :( so sorry about that!
I sent a very large box to Rusty parcel post the slowest form and the cheapest last Friday. They said 7 days. Insuring the box for 100 bucks and 13 lbs cost me 23 bucks. The box arrived today!!! No damage! The cookies even made without breaking. I sent a letter on the Thursday before he hasn't gotten that yet. Go figure!
