Hang on...I'm going to contact another veteran mom on here to get you some great info :-)

ok thanks

I has to private message her so hope she checks in soon :-).

If we don't see anything in a while I will hunt up her info on here. I'm just not on a computer right now, but didn't want you to feel alone.

I really appreciate that.

The Prone Float is the part of the swim requirement that some struggle with. Recruits have up until Battlestations-21 to accomplish all PFA and academic requirements to be able to participate in BS21, pass that and become a US Sailor.

IF they do not pass their PFA or Swim requirement before BS21 starts for their TG (Training Group...remember, they train in Divisions/Brother Divisions...but the whole TG has the same PIR date. BS21 are done by Divisions though on different dates as they are not all on the same Day of TrainingT)...they will go into the FIT DIVISION (they are removed from their current one) and will be worked with solely to get that. They will be given every opportunity to try and pass it and go through with the next available division (See Note below) for BS21..before their own PIR. RTC wants them to be able to stay on track.

When I say they go through with the next available division it could be: their own if it has not gone through, another in their TG OR even the night before PIR with the next TG. Sometimes the TG following will have their first set go through that Thursday before Captains Cup that weekend. If a recruit does this the night before their own PIR...they will graduate but most likely sit out on marching in and standing on the Drill floor...too tired. They sit in the stands...BUT they are Sailors!)

NOW, if they DON'T pass the requirement before their own original PIR date...they will stay in FIT until they do. I am hearing that they get 10-12 chances for the run...not as sure on how the swim works.

Once they "get it" they will go through BS21 with the next available division...pass that and then prepare to go directly on to their A school...no PIR. BUT again...they are Sailors!

Your Recruit will only call you again once their status changes. Meaning they have passed their requirement.

See this Post about Battlestations-21: (Link) Battlestations-21 (see FIT info) Scroll down to where it says: If your recruit has not passed all of his/her final tests, he/she will not be allowed to participate in BST until those are passed. It goes on to talk in detail about what happens once a Recruit goes to FIT. It recommends contacting the PAO (Public Affairs Office) if you have not heard from your Recruit by Wednesday before their PIR.

I am assuming his PIR is this Friday as that is the last one for December?

Praying for him!

Yes his PIR is this Friday and thanks so much you have helped me to understand more about the prone float. Do you how I can get the address to FIT?

Were you able to call PAO and see what his status is?

The address to write to your recruit in FIT is:

SR LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, MI

Ship 4 Div 2381

3600 Ohio Street

Great Lakes, IL 60088-7103.

(Below is what is in the Battlestations link I gave you. I pulled it out as it is a bit buried in there. So, I gave you the Ship/Div for those that have not passed the swim test.)

Put "FIT Division- Male" or "FIT Division-Female" in place of the Division Number or use Ship 4 Div 2347 (for those who failed the run by less than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2444 (for those who failed the run by more than a minute), or Ship 4 Div 2381 (for those who failed any part of the swim test).

UPDATE: Please do not call RTC PAO to find out your Recruit's status. They are not able to give out that info due to privacy laws.

You will have to wait until your Recruit contacts you.
