suesmom - typically FIT and RCU are housed in the same ship as they all need extra help. FIT with the physical requirements, some are their for extra help with academics, and RCU for healing from illness or injury. My son was in RCU for 5 weeks and while there worked out with some of the FIT recruits. They are still technically in bootcamp and must follow all other bootcamp rules, like phoning, liberty, etc. The instructors, RDCs want these recruits to pass all of their requirements. They get extra help and in FIT, they sometimes have someone (like a motivator) to run with them to help them keep pace.

As hard as it is, even though she did not PIR (my son didn't either), again, no news is good news. If she were injured, sick or being sent home, you would definately get a phone call!

While my son was in RCU, they were given time at the NEX on some Sunday afternoons at which time, he was able to call home, if there was a working phone available. They also still get to write, so hopefully you will hear something soon. If you are able to write her, I would encourage you to keep it upbeat and encouraging.

Hello-
My daughter had called and said she did not pass her final run but that she had two more chances to pass it before her graduation and she thought she was going to do it. we went to chicago not knowing if she was going to graduate or not. her brothers flew in from alaska and florida. I called her recruiter and found out she did not pass her run so I knew she would not graduate. But I had no idea where she was. we have not heard from her since that call. I called public affairs because it was the number on the form letter I got when she first went in. He would not tell me her address just said she was in fit and that she would get letters even if she was transferred to her A school. this news upset me because I did not know she would not do the PIR. She was so proud that she got to carry the academic flags in her graduation and was proud of her division. I can only imagine how hurt she must be knowing she does not get to do this. I just want her to know that we all support her and its Ok. I know my daughter and I know she will torture herself for not graduating when her brothers were there and she will feel like a failure before them. I dont want her to and it is hard not being able to talk to her and tell her this.

Is there anyway to tell how the process will now go that they are in FIT? What is their day like? I haven't been able to find anything online about it.

suesmom, my son was suppose to graduate 11/5, but called last wed with the scripted call that he hasn't passed his run and was heading to FIT. Other than that haven't heard from him by call or letter. He mentioned he would send one Thursday with his address, so hoping one comes tomorrow.

Hello. My daughter was supposed to graduate on the 29th of oct. She did not pass her final run so I guess she got transferred to the fit division at least that is what the public affairs man told me this morning. I have not heard from her and am very worried about her mental status as I know this is going to be extremely hard on her. Does anyone know if they let the recruits call home or write? It would make my life easier just to talk to her and know she is Ok. Thank you all.

Vickie, I figured he couldn't bypass the run, he will get it eventually. When I talked to him yesterday he said he would write today and get us the new address. If I send them now til I get the new address will they forward the mail to him?

My daughter was scheduled to have PIR 10/01/10, and she still has not passed the final run. She has some other issues which caused her to have problems breathing, and this has not been resolved. They kept letting her run to pass the run and now she has stress fractures of the shin and a bad knee. She'll in therapy for at least 2-3 weeks. We did not receive a letter or call for nearly 3 wks, and I called the Public Affairs office to find out what was going on. I got no information from Public affairs. We finally start getting letters from her, and she is getting more depressed as the days go by. She is seeing everyone else progress and asks herself "what did I do to deserve this". They were ready to send her home and she cried and convinced them she wanted to stay. I know she's strong, but she feels so bad now. I'm writing her daily now that I have her address. She got the first phone call home in three weeks, and they would only let her talk a few minutes. I guess the saying is true "That which does not break you makes you stronger". It's really stressful to watch your child go through this. She really wants to be a sailor. Does anyone know if she'll have the opportunity to participate in a PIR with another division once she passes her final run?

Vickie, he will be staying in GL so I'll tell him the deal with pictures. Do you know if he does he battlestations before he passes the run or will he have to wait until after? He was suppose to start that tonight? Is there any chance they can swap out a swim for the run? Wishful thinking on my part, he is a stellar swimmer, but having a heck of a time with the run.

Thanks for all the info. I'm sure I'll have more questions tomorrow.

Will they be assigned to a different division and are they allowed to get mail. I read somewhere that they get phone calls on Sunday. Any idea what the days they test are?
